At the ANDERSON FARM, we raise the most
luscious, lip-smackin’ lamb you’ve ever sunk your
teeth into. The lambs are raised naturally on grass and mother’s
milk—no artificial hormones, steroids or unnecessary antibiotics.
That’s why they taste so good!
TO HELP YOU PLAN, a typical bundle of whole lamb
can be estimated to include:
2 packages leg o’ lamb,
2 packages rack of lamb,
5 packages of lamb chops,
2 packages of lamb ribs,
4 packages of lamb cubes,
2 packages of ground lamb,
2 packages of lamb steaks,
2 packages of lamb shanks (front legs),
1 package of liver and tongue.
This is a typical whole lamb bundle; individual
bundles may vary. The approximate total weight is 30–35 pounds.
DO I HAVE ROOM TO STORE A LAMB? Yes. A typical refrigerator
freezer compartment holds 2 or 3 lamb bundles. Each bundle requires less
than 1½ cubic feet of space.
WE OFFER TWO WAYS TO BUY LAMB—live lamb @$1.30
per pound and USDA approved freezer lamb @$6.99 per pound. Freezer lamb
is cut, wrapped, frozen and sold as a bundle. Minimum order is $110.
WE ARE ENVIRO-FRIENDLY and just plain friendly. We
love it when folks stop over for a farm tour and buy a lamb.

Dakota Harvest Farm is located in very extreme
South Dakota, a few miles away from both Iowa and Nebraska.
Dakota Harvest Farm raises Dorper lambs in a natural environment.
Dorpers are a “hair” sheep rather than wool breed and are
specially developed for the quality of their meat.
All of our lambs are born and raised naturally with
their mothers on our pastures so we can guarantee that they’re
healthy. They spend their time on pastures getting plenty of fresh air,
sunshine, and clean water as they roam. In the winter months, they are
fed alfalfa hay, also grown on our farm, to provide them with optimum
nutrition and health. In turn, they produce a lean, healthy, nutrient
dense and protein rich meat.
We don’t administer growth hormones or antibiotics.
We do not feed any animal byproducts. We do not apply artificial fertilizers
or chemicals on our pastures.
Our specialty items include Lamb Filet Mignon, Lamb
Summer Sausage, and Smoked Leg of lamb. Other lamb products are:
· Leg of Lamb (boneless)
· Lamb Chop
· Shanks
· Spare Ribs
· Shoulder Chop
· Ground Lamb
We do ship our fresh lamb to your house.

Galen Bontrager Farm is a 'Beyond Organic" direct
marketing, grass-based farm featuring Salad Bar Beef, Salad
Bar Lamb, pastured broilers, pastured turkey,
and pastured eggs.
I am a former apprentice of Polyface Inc. and
Joel Salatin. Thus my animals are raised using the Joel Salatin methods
that are highlighted in Michael Pollan's runaway bestseller The Omnivores
Dilemma. (I'm actually mentioned in the book because I was
an apprentice while Michael was there gathering the information for his
book).
I avoid using chemicals, growth hormones, genetically modified
grains, antibiotics, dead animal parts, chicken litter, or drugs. Sales
of all products can be seasonal or year-round; please contact me for
availability. Custom beef is sold in wholes, halves, or quarters and
custom lamb in wholes or halves. Broilers and turkeys are custom
ordered, processed, and picked up at the farm. On-farm sales
of non-chlorinated eggs year-round.
I do not ship food anywhere because I want to keep
everything local. I encourage customers to come to the farm and connect
with their food, and covet your support to keep local family farming
alive and well.
For more information check out my farm website or
call me for ordering information or with any questions you may have.

Horsefeather Farm is a small family farm
with a limited number of grass finished calves to sell in the fall
or spring. We usually deliver them to area lockers and sell them by
the whole, half, or quarter.
We raise them strictly on grass and offer Jersey/Devon/Angus
crosses. We do not use any antibiotics or hormones. We feed them kelp
and D.E. for mineral and wormer. We rotate our cows on mixed green pastures
and stockpile grass for the winter and feed our own hay. We have a diversified
farm as we raise cattle, horses (saddle and draft), chicken, goats,
hogs, rabbits and wholesale potted peonies. We hope to resume our
pastured poultry raising in 2005 after we finish the 6-year building
project of our post and beam/straw bale house.
We are located near Lamoni,
IA, just off the southernmost exit on I-35. We are within driving
distance of Des Moines, Kansas City and Omaha. Check with us for all

The Koether Ranch offers
grassfed beef on a year-round basis. We have been organic since
1985, but are not certified. We prefer to sell quarters or split halves,
but we sell individual packages as well. We usually ship frozen meat
2nd Day Air in special containers.
Our goal is to provide the best possible care and
diet for our animals so that our customers can get the healthiest possible
meat. The cattle never eat grain. They eat fresh grass from April thru
November and winter on dry hay. They are fed a combination of kelp, minerals,
and refined natural salt year- round. We complete the cattle's life cycle
with humane slaughter. They are killed in our corral while standing quietly
and then are hauled to the processing facility. This prevents any unnecessary
stress on the animal.
We usually harvest our beef in late October
– early November when the animals are 16 months old. We like to
have large orders placed prior to slaughter, but we try to keep a supply
of frozen meat on hand year-round.
Recently we added lamb, goat and broiler
chickens as well. For any further details, please feel free to
call anytime.

registered, Belted Galloways. This breed wears a long winter coat,
usually between four and eight inches. This winter coat negates the
need for fat on the animals. We have extremely lean meat product animals

Tall Grass Bison, the
largest bison producer in Iowa, maintains their herd of over
300 grass-fed bison on 1000 acres "as close to natural conditions
as possible." The animals are free-range and graze on native prairie
grasses; no corn or other grains are fed. Herds are managed for natural
family order, an evolutionary development that minimizes stress, the
precursor of pathogens, illness and tough meat. Healthy stress-free
lives mean they have never needed nor been given a shot or antibiotics
in their life.
Humane slaughter in the field eliminates the unnecessary
stress of being transported to a slaughterhouse. Meat is dry-aged for
21 days and processed at a State Inspected locker. Bison meat is available
in front quarters, hind quarters and hanging halves.
