Absolute Pastured Poultry raises all-natural chickens on pastures in the scenic Sugarloaf Valley near the foot of Sugarloaf Mountain located close to Interstates I-80 and I-81. Our farm is miles away from "industry" in the heart of prime agricultural land with excellent deep well water and pastures that have only been used for natural grass for over 25 years.

We initially began raising chickens for ourselves, but found that others were also interested in healthier, highest quality, naturally raised chicken that are never fed any antibiotics, hormones or animal by-products. Our flocks are Cornish/Rock cross birds that produce excellent quality, hearty tasting chicken weighing between 4–7 pounds.

Currently, we begin in the Spring and are able to raise multiple flocks of 50–60 chickens each throughout the summer and into fall. Ordering is by pre-arrangement before and during this time period. You MUST contact us ahead of time and plan for receipt of your order shortly after processing. We do not presently store large amounts of meat for winter sales.

Contact us today for details on how to place an order that will fill your freezer with great tasting, high quality, natural pastured poultry at reasonable prices!

Alt Perlswalde Farm, located in southern Franklin County, Pennsylvania, is an integrated hay and lambing operation.

All animals are pasture based, grass fed and free of hormones or antibiotics. We have a commercial flock whose genetic makeup is primarily Dorset. All lambs are pasture born and reared until naturally weaned by their mothers.

Lambs are available for the 2009–10 season beginning in September and will be available thru January 1, 2010. Lambs will be offered for sale as freezer lambs at a live weight of 70 lbs. or larger. Freezer lambs can be cut to order at a local USDA inspected abattoir and we can make recommendations on selected cuts and expected finished weights.  Restaurant quality lambs may be ordered with whole carcass intact and organs packaged separately.

Our farm is located within 90 miles of the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area. On-site pick up is encouraged; delivery may involve a fee. Allow 2-4 weeks for processing.

Back Achers Farm produces brown eggs from organically fed pasture-raised hens, broilers raised on pasture and organically fed, grass fed beef, and produce grown on soil that is free from pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers. We also produce grassfed lamb and milk fed pork. Maple syrup and other maple products are made right here on the farm. We have Thanksgiving turkeys which are also fed only organic feed and raised on pasture.

Our animals are ethically raised, totally drug-free, without chemical additives, animal byproducts, or hormones, and this year we will be using biodynamic principles as outlined by the Josephine Porter Institute. Back Achers Farm is not just a production facility, but an ecological haven where the connections and relationships among crops, trees, animals, insect compost, soil, and water form an intricate web.

Baytree Farm has the very simple, yet exact philosophy—We Love Lamb. We love to raise sheep and lambs. We love farming. We would like to share this with you.

Baytree Farm is 180 acres of grass pasture and hayfields, located in southern Venango County just minutes from Interstate 80. We have lived here over 30 years and run around 200 ewes.

We are a pasture-based, grass fed lamb producing operation. We do not use hormones or antibiotics. Since we like to be outside, we know that the sheep do also; hence we offer the flock unlimited access to rotationally grazed pastures. Here they can get all the fresh air, sunshine, clean water and exercise they desire. We make all the forage here for winter feeding.

We only use grain as a supplement in the very cold winter when ewes that lamb at that time of the year benefit from a small amount of additional energy, particularly first time lambing ewes or ewes that have had multiple lambs or particularly large lambs. We feed at the rate of 1/4 pound of shelled corn per day for the first 10–14 days, giving the ewe an opportunity to come into her full milk production. We do not feed corn after that. We have tried not to feed corn at all, but with the stress of the above listed conditions our ewes lose a good bit of condition and the lambs are far less vigorous and healthy.

At Baytree Farm we produce different size lambs for different markets. Many of our lambs are sold at 60-75 pounds live weight and are in high demand at the markets. We do keep some lambs to a larger size for specific customer needs. Our lambs are only available as whole animals which we deliver free to a local USDA-inspected market for processing. Every effort is made to accommodate special requests. Delivery is optional at an additional fee. Please visit our website for more information.

We strive to do our absolute best for our sheep and lambs as well as all of our animals. We have been given the opportunity and privilege of raising sheep on our farm and work very hard to provide the most humane and conservation-minded environment for them. We have most recently completed and passed the first phase of the Sheep Safety and Quality Assurance Program sponsored by the American Sheep Industry Association.

Thank you for your time and consideration. We invite your comments or questions always.

Blackbird Farms is located in pastoral Pierpont, Ohio less than one hour from Erie, PA or Cleveland, OH. We are a family-owned farm  dedicated to providing  superior quality, all-natural, cruelty-free, pasture-raised pork.

Our pigs are raised in the fresh air and sunshine where they have room to roam and develop naturally. We find great happiness in being able to offer this wholesome pork to you and your family. We know that you will find it to be some of the best pork you will ever taste. Our pork chops are out of this world juicy and more flavorful than any "assembly line" pork product. There is much less waste in our product because it contains only 100% all natural-pork. No additives. It is the way pork should be—flavorful and tender.

We are currently offering pasture-raised pork by the side or whole hog.  A half-hog yields approximately 75 pounds of take-home meat, and will take up about 1/3 of a regular top-freezer.

We prefer pick-up, but convenient arrangements can be made. Call or e-mail for specific details on cuts, sausage seasonings, pick-up dates, etc.

TAKING RESERVATIONS FOR NEXT YEAR'S PRODUCTION OF PASTURE RAISED PORK, TURKEY, CHICKEN (CORNISH AND HERITAGE), AND LAMB.

We currently have a limited supply of pasture raised turkey available.  These are Holland White turkey and are our first attempt at raising them.  We had an awesome experience and plan to continue next year with heritage breeds.

We appreciate your commitment to supporting small-scale environmentally conscience family farms. We can assure you that your purchase helps us to become better stewards of the land that we use to produce our products.

Blue Rooster Farm has found that healthy soils are the foundation for sustainable agricultural production of any kind. We are farming two small farms using beef cows and ewes as our primary soil building partners. We use no antibiotics, growth hormones, chemical wormers, pesticides, herbicides, or commercial fertilizers.

We seek to be good stewards of the Susquehanna River watershed in which we live and farm. Managing our grasslands for grass-nesting birds while protecting and improving the health of the streams, wetlands, shrubland, and forest habitats are as important to us as the health and productivity of our livestock.

For eight years we have been using line-bred Black Angus genetics from Sam Wylie's old-time purebred herd in Bedford County, PA. Our cattle are selected for their ability to thrive in a low-input environment. Sam's bulls have excelled at improving our cow herds' fertility, mothering ability, and efficiency at producing excellent quality beef with a minimum of fuss.

Our calves are slaughtered at between 18-24 months of age, and produce carcasses between 550 and 750 pounds, depending on the desired level of "finish." We sell most of our steer calves by the whole, half, or quarter and also try to keep an inventory of steaks, roasts, stew meat, beef sausage, minute steaks, short ribs, and extremely high quality ground beef on hand for retail sales.

Our ewe flock is line-bred to purebred North Country Cheviot rams. While not as prolific as many popular sheep breeds, we like their hardiness, excellent feet even under wet pasture conditions, mothering ability, and high quality lamb carcasses. Our lambs generally dress out between 40-55 pounds. Along with whole freezer lambs, we carry an inventory of delicious lamb sausage, chops, leg and shoulder roasts.

Our animals are processed at Prestige Meats, a family-owned, professionally-managed, custom processor in Huntingdon County and Benners Beef, a family-owned, USDA-inspected processor in Juniata County.

Call or email us for a current price list and more information.

Canyon Livestock Company raises beef cattle under two different systems. Animals that end the summer weighing 700 pounds or more are butchered early in the fall, making grass their sole source of nourishment. Those that weigh less than 700 pounds are over-wintered on a diet of hay and some grain. In early spring, they are returned to the pasture to be finished on grass. (All animals are butchered before their second spring.)

The beef is available in quantity only.

Cedarland Farm is a small family farm in Southeast York county, Pennsylvania. We raise Icelandic sheep on pasture for custom meat and wool products. These sheep are a mountain breed, known for mild flavor and thriving on grass alone. We don't castrate and let the lambs wean naturally to reduce stress and keep gains high.

We believe in farming as naturally as possible, deworming only when needed and not on a regular schedule. By improving the land through intensive grazing and pasture rotation, we build up the fertility of the soil and with a balanced custom mineral/vitamin blend, our sheep are rarely in need of antibiotics.

There will be about 10 lambs available in late Summer/Fall 2009.

Reservations are first come, first served. You can expect 35-45 pounds hanging weight from these delicious lambs. Please contact Amanda to reserve your lamb and we'll arrange a butchering date with you. You can specify your cuts from our local custom butcher.

No shipping available, but farm visitors are welcome and individual cuts are for sale on farm. We also have fresh free-range eggs and vegetables available on a limited basis.

Clan Stewart Farm, one of Pennsylvania’s few remaining Bicentennial Farms, believes that producing fresh, nutritious, and healthy food and selling it locally is the best way to ensure a bountiful local food supply, protect the environment, and keep farmers on the land.

We raise vegetables without pesticides or herbicides and hormone- and antibiotic-free grass-fed poultry and beef on our 160-acre farm located about 18 miles south of State College in Central Pennsylvania. Our pastured Shorthorn beef, lamb, and pork is processed by an FDA-inspected butcher shop, quick frozen, and available by the pound. Also available at the farm are pasture-raised chickens through the summer months, heritage-breed turkeys at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and fresh brown eggs. We offer fresh vegetables from June through October.

We sell our vegetables, eggs, and meats at the Boalsburg Farmer's Market on Tuesday afternoons (2-6 pm), and at the Huntingdon Farmers Market on Thursday afternoon (12-6 pm). If you would like to purchase poultry, please order it ahead of time, and we will have it ready for you to pick up at the market.

We also offer our products through a Community Supported Agriculture Program (CSA). If you are interested in belonging to our CSA for the 2007 season, please call or e-mail us. Applications are available at our web site. The cost is $500 for the 20-week season and your share will be delivered to the Boalsburg Market. We are taking a limited number of members in 2007.

Common Ground Organic Farm produces nutritious organic lamb, chicken, turkey, eggs and vegetables. Our Jacob and Finn sheep, angora goats and llama produce wool for sale. We are dedicated to the land, nurturing the soil, and acting as responsible stewards in our relationship with the earth and what it can provide.

Common Ground has 82 acres in the Appalachian Mountains of Central Pennsylvania, including mountainside pastures and natural wooded areas.

We work hard to build healthy soil, which is the foundation of our organic system. Cover crops, compost, mowing, rotation among livestock species and natural habitat form the basis of our pasture system. We do not use synthetic fertilizers.

Lambs are raised on 100% certified organic pasture and hay. They receive no grain and have access to pasture 24 hours a day, all year long. Turkeys and chickens sold as broilers are raised on free-range pasture. Hens producing eggs are on free-range pasture or in a large portable pen. In addition to pasture, all poultry eat 100% certified organic whole and ground grains. They also eat a lot of leftover organic vegetables! No antibiotics, parasite medications or hormones are used.

Please see our website for ordering information.

Coulter Farms lies quietly nestled between Shade Mountain and Tuscarora Mountain in Juniata County, midway between Harrisburg and State College. We are proud producers of exceptional grass fed beef, lamb and free range eggs.

Our family manages the rotational grazing of 120 acres of rolling multi-speciated pasture and 90 acres of productive hay fields (organic as of Fall, 2007.) We practice a purely organic farming system, relying exclusively on biological systems to achieve excellence in our soils/pastures/harvested forage/animals. Rotational grazing, cover crops, composting of manure, no-tillage seeding and conservative crop rotations are used extensively. Only the cleanest water runs off our land. We have eliminated all chemical, synthetic, antibiotic inputs and strive to reduce fossil fuel use while making the best possible use of solar fuel.

Ruminant animals at Coulter Farms never taste any form of grain...only mother's milk, lush pasture and fermented hay. Our two-year-old steers (8-month-old lambs) are fully finished, giving ample marbling to the meat. This marbling produces the highest levels of CLA and Omega 3's (not to mention taste and tenderness) in the meat. Wintering beef over a second winter to an age of 24-26 months is time-consuming, but we feel you'll agree that it is well worth the wait.

Processing is handled humanely in a local, USDA certified abattoir. Two to three weeks aging results in the highest levels of taste and tenderness. The product is skillfully cut, flash-frozen and cryo-vac packed to maximize quality and longevity.

A walk-in freezer at our farm allows us to maintain some inventory of meat, but most animals are pre-ordered (you may come select your animal on the hoof' if you like). Beef is available as 1/16's (approx 25 lbs) up to 1/2's or whole animals.

We would appreciate the opportunity to provide your family with what, we are confident, is the best meat available in the grass-fed market. Call or email us for more information. If you come to see us, please remember to bring your kids and boots so we can show you around.

Golden Hill Farms goes to grass finished beef.

For over 25 years we at Golden Hill Farms, in northwest Pennsylvania, have been producing and selling top quality show cattle, with the remaining calves being sold to feedlots for grain finishing. Since we are a grass and hay farm, this year we decided to keep 30 of our top feeders to finish on grass.

During much of this time we have also operated a meat processing plant. The animals in this program will be slaughtered under federal inspection and we will be processing the meat ourselves, in our facility on our farm. Additionally, the only meat we will be processing will be our grass fed beef.

This year the grass finished cattle will have an average dressed weight of 600–700 pounds. They will be sold by the half (300–350 pounds) or in bundles.

We have designed 7 different bundles that we hope will meet everyone's needs. The contents and price of each can be seen on our website.

  • Large Family Bundle (60 lbs.)
  • Steak Lovers Bundle (15 lbs.)
  • Economy Bundle (20 lbs.)
  • Ground Beef Bundle (25 lbs.)
  • Family Bundle (30 lbs.)
  • Roast Lovers Bundle (15 lbs.)
  • Sampler Bundle (15 lbs.)

Heather Ridge Creamery is located in beautiful Tioga County near the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. Our small family farm makes cheese from the milk of our prize winning Holstein and Jersey cows.

As today's farms become larger commercial operations, we looked for a way to keep a small farm where our animals could receive the best of care, and we could have the satisfaction of bringing a quality dairy product direct from our family to yours. Our Canyon Country Cheeses are made here from start to finish! Clean, comfortable cows are fed a diet of the best hay and grain Jim can find. They graze the quiet pastures on our farm and lounge under the fans if they get too hot. What a life!

We believe the final product is only as good as what goes into it. Our raw milk cheese is made from only high quality milk, salt, cultures and enzymes. Its taste will reflect the quality and care that goes into all we do. No factories here!

Hepler Meats is located in northwest PA just 8 miles from exit 45 on RT 80, 1 and 1/2 hours from either Pittsburgh or Erie.

Hepler Meats are dedicated to providing 100% grass fattened beef at an affordable price. We've been in the beef business for over 20 years and in the butchering business for 15 years. While we've always produced all natural beef fattened on grain, every year we have sold 100% grass fed beef to a few interested customers. Now we have dedicated an entire herd to sell as grass fed beef.

We will have approximately forty head ready for slaughter beginning in mid-June to early July. We will only be offering the 100% grass fed beef at this time due to the dramatic decline in the quality of the pasture in late summer. The animals will all be under 24 months of age and should grade in the choice range, although leaner beef is available if requested. The beef are raised without artificial hormones, antibiotic vaccines, non protein nitrogen, or undue stress.

When you order beef from us you will not only be dealing with the farmer but also the butcher for an added convenience. Your beef will be cut to your specifications and double wrapped in cellophane and then butcher paper to protect your investment. In the past we've charged $2.75 per pound for our 100% grass fed beef but we are offering it to you for the low price of $2.50 per pound while our supplies last.

Kookaburra Farm has its roots in raising healthy, organic food. What began as a small market vegetable and grass fed lamb operation in the hills of New England in 1998—has matured into a multi-generational family farm in the Susquehanna Valley of Pennsylvania.

We strive to offer 100% grass fed, nutrient dense beef raised on organically managed pastures, stored forages, minerals and well water. The key to our management system is minimizing stress in every aspect of our animals' lives.

Martin's Twin Brook Farm is a small all natural farm in south central Pennsylvania. We raise Scotch Highland cross cattle for beef. We feed only pasture grass, hay, and a mineralized salt block. No antibiotics nor hormones are used. We use no chemical fertilizers nor herbicides on the pasture. Beef is sold by the mixed quarter and must be picked up at a local butcher, usually in July or October. Supply is very limited. We will take your name and call you for order confirmation a few weeks before the beef is ready to be picked up.

We also have very limited quantities of emu meat from free-range emus raised on the same pastures described above. No antibiotics nor hormones are used. Emu meat is a red meat that looks and tastes very much like beef, is high in iron, and has about the same fat content as turkey. We sell emu by the half or whole bird. A whole bird usually yields 50 to 80 pounds of meat with no bones.

Very limited quantities of fertile, free-range brown chicken eggs (no hormones nor antibiotics) are also available from the same pastures used by the cattle and emus.

Mary's Delight Farm is an 88-acre certified organic farm located in the Catoctin Mountains 30 minutes north of Frederick and about a mile south of the Pennsylvania-Maryland state line. The farm has been managed organically since 1988. Our goal is to provide clean air, fresh water and green grass to our animals to make them healthy. We use rotational grazing, cover crops, buffer zones, no till and many other practices to improve the soil. This has helped us improve our animals as well as the abundant wildlife around.

All of the lamb comes from sheep at the farm. We have about 60 ewes that lamb between January and March. Our lamb is raised on pastures and hay from the farm.  They are raised organic but we do not have a certified organic processor nearby.

We recently added steers to the farm to have a multi species rotation. They are purchased from a reputable grass farm and are never fed grain. They do very well on the farm. Visitors are always welcome but please set up an appointment so we can answer any questions you may have.

Natural Acres is a 550-acre certified organic farm located in Millersburg, PA. From our farm, we provide organic, grass-fed black angus beef, pasture-raised organic chickens, and organic eggs. We use mineral-rich, balanced soils, as well as organic and ecologically sound farming practices to produce healthy organic foods and meats.

Our cows are bred on our farm, where their calves are born. They remain with their mothers on our pastures.  As they get older, they start eating pasture grass, and eventually are weaned from their mother's milk. They continue to eat as much grass as they desire.

When our beef cattle reach an optimum weight and age to assure peak flavor and tenderness, they are humanely slaughtered in a certified organic, USDA-inspected facility. There, the meat is processed and each individual package is vacuum sealed to maintain its flavor and quality.

Nature's Sunlight, located near Newville, provides certified organic raw milk from pasture-fed jersey cows. The milk is tested regularly for bacteria and meets the same standards as milk after it has been pasteurized. The cows test negative for bruciloses and tuberculosis. Yogurt, Monterey Jack and cheddar cheese are available. The cheese has its own natural golden color because of the high-carotene content of their pasture-based diet.

Eggs are available from free-range hens, housed in a mobile hen house. The birds are fed free-choice, organic grain with no antibiotics or hormones. This produces large eggs with deep orange yolks. Pastured broilers, stewing hens, and turkeys also are fed the organic grain mix.

Owens Farm offers grass-fed/finished lamb, pastured pork, meadow-raised chicken, and happy veal raised on momma cows. Our customers reserve their meat in the spring with a deposit and pick it up at the farm cut, wrapped, and frozen at a USDA facility.

Lamb and pork come in the fall. Chickens come in 3 or 4 batches throughout summer and fall. Veal is ready at various times during the year, so interested folks email us to get on the Veal List.

Our production philosophy is to raise our animals under as natural conditions as possible. The sheep are on pasture except for 6 weeks before lambing, when they come inside for shearing and close observation.  We may feed a small amount of grain at this time, if the hay is not providing enough energy for fetal growth and milk production. The pigs live outside and move through new paddocks frequently. The chickens live on grass with portable shelters. Our veal calves roam the meadows with their Jersey momma cows, forming the cutest cow herd you've ever seen. Our health care focuses on prevention and homeopathic remedies when needed.

Pure Indian Foods is a small family-owned business that takes pride in making an exceptional quality grass-fed and certified organic Ghee.  Golden colored Ghee is prepared by melting and simmering butter until all the water evaporates and the milk solids settle at the bottom. The remaining butter oil is very stable, giving it a high smoke point which makes it an excellent choice for deep fat frying, baking and sautéing.  Because of the low moisture content, it can be stored without refrigeration for 2-3 months. Many people find our ghee, with its rich, nutty flavor, to be tastier than butter.

We make our ghee fresh, with care, in small batches, right here in the USA. Our products are USDA Certified Organic. We use butter made only in Springtime through the Fall, when the cows are actually out on the pasture eating fresh green grass. We make our ghee only on the waxing or full moon days which are auspicious in the ancient Vedic system. We use glass bottles instead of plastic bottles to avoid dangerous toxic chemicals from leeching from plastic containers. Our family has been in the ghee business in India for 5 generations, since 1889, and we are proudly continuing that tradition.

Ghee has been used for its health-giving and healing properties for thousands of years.  In Ayurveda (the “science of life”), cow ghee is considered one of the most sacred foods.

Ghee is the best cooking oil as it is stable at higher temperatures, and it enhances the flavor of spices and herbs. Ghee is free of casein and lactose and is suitable for people who are allergic to dairy products. It keeps skin soft, and has anti-aging properties. Ghee contains naturally occurring CLA, Omega-3, Vitamins A, D, E & K2. It is free of harmful trans-fats.

Ghee is shelf-stable and we ship worldwide by USPS, UPS, FedEx or DHL.  We offer special discounts to co-ops and buying clubs.

Skelton Farms Piedmontese Beef is located in Edinboro PA, in the northwestern corner of the state. It is is an easy 2 hour drive to Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, and Buffalo, NY and  is 20 minutes south of Erie PA.

We are third generation farmers and have been on our Edinboro farm since 1945. We have been raising Piedmontese beef cattle since the early 1990s. We have been a solely grass-fed operation for the past ten years.

All of our cattle eat mixed grass pasture and orchard grass hay year-round. Our hay is raised on our 300+ acre farm without the use of pesticide or herbicides, and our surplus is sold across the country to very selective farms. While we adhere to all the requirements and more to be certified Organic in the state of PA, for many reasons we have decided not to become "certified."

You may visit our farm any time, we are very proud of our cattle and facilities. Please call first. For more information on our farm and beef please visit our website.

Our beef is offered for sale by the whole (6–800 pounds), half (3–400 pounds), or quarter (150–200 pounds) steer. We also have individual cuts available year round off the farm store. All beef is vacuum packed in clear packaging. It is clearly marked with the cut and our farm name. Beef is processed at a USDA facility.

Somethings Happinin' Farm raises their animals on rotated pastures. We don't use antibiotics, growth hormones, or vaccines. Our pastures are free of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. We are also predator friendly and working toward a holistic approach.

The farm offers a variety of natural animal products, including pastured broilers, rabbits, lambs, pigs, chevon (kid goats), and eggs. The lambs are from Icelandic sheep, a very old breed designed to be raised on grass alone. The lambs are finished in 5–6 months and weigh from 75–120 pounds. The rabbits and pigs are raised on pasture as well, but are supplemented with grain and natural minerals and vitamins.

Pastured chickens and rabbit are available from June through November. Lambs and goats are available from August through October. Pork is sold from August through November. Eggs are available from March through December.

You will find the products at the farm, at a farmers' market in Deposit, NY and at some of our craft shows in the fall, most of which are in New York state. (Note: The farm also sells fiber, yarns, and hand-knitted and felted garments from their Angora rabbits and sheep.)

Sugar Hill Farm is an ecologically oriented farm specializing in Scottish Highland 100% grass fed certified organic beef. We are certified by Pennsylvania Certified Organic.

Our animals graze on 200 acres in the rolling hills of north central Pennsylvania. They are humanely treated throughout their lives.  All animals are born and raised on our farm.

After reaching a suitable age and weight, our animals are humanely slaughtered and butchered by a certified organic butcher. The beef is then flash frozen and vacuum sealed.

Scottish Highland cattle are one of the oldest breeds of heritage cattle and are highly suited to grass diet. Our pastures and fields are continuously improved through application of organic minerals and managed grazing. The combination of an excellent breed and the high quality grass result in beef that is tender and tasty.

We deliver in several areas of Pennsylvania and custom shipping is available.

WIL–AR Farms is a small, family farm located near Newville, in south central Pennsylvania. We have concerns about the health of our land, our family, and our customers. We do not use chemicals or hormones on our farm. Working in harmony with nature is our rule. We are an all-grass based farm, which means that our animals are raised on pasture.

Limited amounts of a broad range of products including grassfed beef, veal, lamb, rabbits, pork, chickens, turkeys, and eggs. Raw milk cheeses, aged at least 60 days, are made right on the farm from totally grassfed Jersey cows.

We strive to farm in harmony with the seasons. Cycling our production with nature's seasons must not be compromised. As soon as we produce food against the seasons, disease, costs, and environmental degradation escalate. We calve when the deer are fawning, start chicks when the wild turkey eggs are hatching, and increase our workload when the days are longer.

WIL–AR Farms, Wilmer and Arlene Newswanger, 76 Parker Road, Newville PA 17241. (717) 776-6552. No Sunday sales.

Willow Springs Farm has been farmed for 13 years without artificial chemicals of any kind. In trying to farm in harmony with nature, we raise everything on native pasture with the seasons. We are committed to preserving our land as well as raising healthy, quality food for ourselves and others.

We raise sheep, chickens, and rabbits. Currently we have a limited supply of aged raw sheep milk cheese (cracked pepperjack) pastured chickens (frozen) and rabbit. Our rabbits are currently raised in a building, but we are working on a pasture growing system for this summer. Our lambs are raised on pasture, no grain. Our sheep milk is produced entirely from pasture. Due to cost and availability, our chickens do receive non-organically grown feed, but with no hormones or antibiotics, and are moved to fresh pasture 1–2 times daily.

Processing of all products is done by hand by local small family operations. Fresh products are available from June through October by pre-order. Frozen chicken, rabbit, and lamb are available year round. Call, write or e-mail for price and availability. We will ship, but love to have our customers visit to share the beauty of our farm.

Workhorse Farms of Nescopeck, PA has been providing grass fed beef to families since 1989. We offer custom cut mixed quarters, halves and whole beef to our customers. To ensure that we have enough beef for September/October, we request that orders for our beef be placed early in the year.

Our beef comes from prime, healthy young cattle raised on pasture grasses. Not only does this make our beef lean and tender, but it also has a rich flavor. To ensure that our beef maintains its best flavor and has a long storage life, it is aged, vacuum packaged and flash frozen at our butcher. ALL OUR BEEF IS CUSTOM CUT BY THE BUTCHER!

We also make available to our customers the delicious flavor of the pastured pork that your grandparents knew and loved. Our production is different from most other pig farms which gives our pork that old fashioned taste. Our pigs are allowed to roam freely in our lush grass pastures, socialize, and engage in instinctive pig behaviors such as rooting, wallowing, and foraging.

Call or e-mail us for information or to order your beef and pork.

Workhorse farms has been using sustainable farming practices since 1985. As a family, we don't believe that things such as artificial fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, growth hormones or unnecessary antibiotics belong in our food supply. That is why we don't use these things on our farm.
