Request for Inclusion in the Eatwild Directory

Being listed on Eatwild.com is your most cost-efficient marketing tool. To date, we've had over 4 million visitors to the site, with up to 8,000 visitors per day. The bulk of them are looking for suppliers—don't miss out!

We welcome new suppliers who meet the following criteria (revised 4/10):

Criteria/Production Standards for Listing on Eatwild

  • We raise our animals in a low-stress, natural environment and treat them humanely from birth to market.

  • When high-quality pasture is not available, we feed our ruminant animals (e.g., cattle, goats, sheep, bison, deer, antelope) stored grasses, which can include hay, haylage, and grass silage. We do not feed them grain, soy, corn silage, or concentrate.

  • We raise our dairy animals on pasture with little or no grain or concentrate. We will list you if you feed your dairy animals a small percentage of grain—6 pounds/day or less—provided you specify the type and amount. This information must be included in your listing and does not include dairy breeds sold for meat.

  • We raise our poultry outdoors on good-quality pasture as soon as they are old enough to withstand outdoor conditions. (Note: Having “access to the outdoors” is not enough. The birds must be getting a significant amount of their nourishment from growing plants. This means they need to be in a large area of grass, or moved frequently so that they always have a good supply of fresh pasture. Unlike ruminants, poultry can be fed a significant amount of supplemental food, such as grain and seeds.)

  • We raise our pigs or rabbits outdoors on good pasture. (As is true for poultry, they can be given supplemental grain, nuts, seeds, fruits, and other nutritious foods in addition to grasses.)

  • We do not treat our animals with hormones.

  • We do not treat our animals with routine, low-level antibiotics. Those animals that we do treat with antibiotics due to health problems or injury are removed from the program.

  • We do not confine our animals except for: 1) brief periods prior to and during birthing; 2) to protect them from extreme weather conditions; or 3) to prevent “pugging” of the soil during wet weather.

  • We protect our streams and other natural water sources from harmful animal impact.

  • We manage our animals' grazing to enhance the growth of the pasture, the health of the land, and the nutritional value of our products. To do this, we take into account the specific soil conditions, vegetation, altitude, growing season, and temperature range of our climate.

  • Organic certification is desirable, but not essential.

If you have questions about the criteria and whether or not you qualify for listing on Eatwild, send us an e-mail (listings@eatwild.com) or call (toll-free) (866) 453-8489.

Eatwild reserves the right to remove a supplier from the website if there is reason to believe that the supplier does not meet these criteria, or if for any reason inclusion of the supplier might reflect negatively on Eatwild.

Getting Listed

If you meet the above criteria and want to be added to the Eatwild Directory, please complete the form below and send it to us either by mail, e-mail (listings@eatwild.com) or fax (866-453-8489). The cost is a one-time fee of $50. (Future updates to your listing will cost $10 each—the update fee is due when the update is requested, not with your initial payment.) These fees, along with sales from the Eatwild Store, help keep the Eatwild website online.

We do not have grants or any other outside funding and we operate this site at a net loss. If you want this site to be a more effective advocate for pastured products, please consider writing your check for a larger sum. (Thanks to a new partnership with Renew the Earth, donations of $100 or more are now tax deductible.) Contributions can be made online when you pay for your listing.

We thank you in advance if you are able to help out. Any amount is appreciated.

P.S. Visit our Producers' Corner page for information geared specifically to Eatwild farmers and ranchers.

There is no charge if you are just changing an e-mail or website address, but there is a $10 fee for other changes. This helps keep Eatwild alive and well, making it a more effective marketing tool for you.

Pay the fee online, by phone (toll-free: 866-453-8489 ), or by check, then send us the updated information in an e-mail and we will upload the changes. Send the revisions in an e-mail to listings@eatwild.com.

I receive more customers from your website than all of my other advertising and marketing efforts combined.

Not only are you a valuable resource to all of us who are determined to take responsibility for what we eat, but an invaluable  help to people like me, who are "on the land" producing grass-fed products.
