The following farms and ranches have certified that they meet Eatwild's criteria for producing grassfed meat, eggs and dairy products. Contact them directly for additional information or to buy their products:

Beechtree Farm, Hopewell, NJ. Inspired after hearing talks by Jo Robinson at the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture conference in 2003, we began to expand our cattle operation of 20 years and selling our grassfed beef directly to consumers from our 58 acre, preserved farm in Hopewell, NJ.

We raise Devon and Polled Hereford cattle on rotational pasture grazing plan. The Devon cattle are known for thriving exclusively on grass while our Polled Herefords allow us to crossbreed for first generation hybrid vigor. Our cattle live an unconfined, humane life on pasture and hay in the winter with access to shelter, minerals and salt. We also plan to sell breeding stock to other graziers.

We are actively involved on a local and regional basis in farmland preservation and encouraging and promoting local, sustainable agriculture. Lucia is the chair of the Hopewell Township agricultural advisory committee which holds educational forums for local landowners farmers and consumers. We returned to PASA this year to learn more techniques for refining our pastured meat operation.

Our meat is sold frozen by the cut in our point of sale room at Beechtree Farm. We take advance orders for 1/8, 1/4 or 1/2 shares in the fall. The meat is processed at a local USDA certified facility.

Burningheart Organic Farm is a small farm with a mission: to preserve the art of sustainable farming. We use organic methods to produce healthy, happy, grassfed lamb, chicken and eggs without the use of antibiotics, growth hormones, anthelmintics (de-wormers), pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers. Our lambs and poultry are on fresh grass everyday.

The soil is the foundation of our farm. Our permanent pastures are managed to protect the long-term health of the soil, and increase the nutrition in the pasture plants. Permanent pasture has a diversity of plants not attainable with tilled-soil methods, producing a higher level of nutrition in the pasture and in the animals. Much of our pasture contains legumes, such as white clover, which fix nitrogen from the atmosphere into the soil at the root level—free and natural fertilization, with no excess nitrogen run-off to contaminate surface water!

We keep a permanent flock of sheep and breed our lambs here on our farm. Our livestock are treated humanely and have plenty of space, eliminating stress and illness. We feed organic kelp as a vitamin and mineral supplement. Kelp, a sea grass, has the proper balance of minerals necessary for excellent nutrition, and builds soil fertility. We participate in the USDA voluntary scrapie flock certification program. These sustainable methods help to promote public health, maintain strong topsoil and produce some of the most nutritious, safe, and delicious meat on the planet!

Lamb is sold by the whole or half share and is available in the summer and autumn. Chicken and eggs are available throughout the spring, summer, and autumn. Advance orders are necessary and are taken by phone all year. Please call for current prices.

To Your Health! You can visit our farm at:

Cherry Grove Farm is a multi-dimensional start-up farm in the rolling land west of Princeton. Our mission is to produce very high quality local food using sustainable low input agricultural practices. Last year on our upper farm at 17 Carter Road we started an organic vegetable and cut flower operation. Currently we are expanding into chickens, pigs, sheep, beef cows and dairy cows.

On our grass-based main family farm at 3200 Lawrenceville Road, one mile east of Lawrenceville along Route 206, we are now offering visiting customers fresh eggs from our free range chickens. We are currently taking orders for pork from our Heritage Breed Hereford Pigs (which produce incredibly tasty bacon), for our all natural Katahdin Breed Lamb (to be sold by the half or whole animal), and for our all natural Hereford Beef (in either whole, half, quarter, or variety box quantities). The pork will be available this spring; the lamb and beef will be available in the fall of 2003.

Our grassfed animals will be processed at at a local USDA certified facility that we have recently toured. We believe it meets the highest standards possible. We use no pesticides, herbicides, feed antibiotics, or growth promoting hormones.

Come and visit!

Kezialain Farm, located between the Hudson and Delaware Rivers in New York, just 3 miles from the New Jersey border, has been in our family for over 200 years.

We see ourselves as stewards of the land that has supported us for eight generations, and raising 100% grass fed beef cattle, certified organic by NOFA-NY LLC, is one way we protect this land. Our fields have been certified for nearly 10 years, but this is the first year our meat comes from certified organic cattle. We also sell what we call naturally raised meat, from cattle that weren’t born under organic standards but in every other way have been raised like our organic animals most or all of their lives.

We sell our beef by the mixed quarter; in 20- and 40- pound variety packs; and 10 or 20 pounds of ground beef.  We’re flexible: if you want another combination, contact us.  Meat is available at the farm, let us know when you can come. IMPORTANT: While our cattle are certified organic, our meat is not. They’re processed in a small USDA slaughterhouse that is not certified organic. We think that being trucked many hours to the closest organic facility would be unnecessarily stressful for our cattle.

The Mitzvah Meat and Mindful Meat food co-op provides glatt kosher, halal and non-kosher beef and lamb that has been grass-fed and finished, raised without chemicals, routine antibiotics, or hormones, and slaughtered humanely. Our farms are naturally or organically certified (NOFA), but all hold to the same high standards of care of their animals stated above.

Our humane slaughter takes place in a small USDA-certified slaughterhouse that allows for compassionate care of each animal preceding and at the time of their slaughter, rather than assembly line killing.

We provide 15-20 lb prepaid packages of frozen meat through deliveries in the New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts areas. We are also able to ship overnight to anywhere in the country. Our packages typically have an assortment of ground meat, chops, and roasts. Special cuts as well as fat, hides, and organ meats are available by request.

Our meat is currently available only through our website.

Neptune Farm is located in southwest New Jersey, on the Delaware Bay. We have been certified organic by NOFA-NJ since 1992, and our farm also conforms to European organic livestock standards. Our Dorset sheep and Hereford cattle are on mixed grass and legume pasture throughout of the year, and dine on our hay in winter. Our animals are never confined, and always have access to shelter. They are tested annually for scrapie and Johne’s.

All of our lambs are grass-finished, and never receive grain. Some of our cattle are finished on grass, while others are fed modest amounts of organic grain to maintain condition in the harsh winter months.

Our meat is processed in a small, local USDA-inspected facility.  We no longer sell directly to the public, but you can taste our beef and lamb at the White Dog Café in Philadelphia.

Plaid Piper Farm has been in our family for 7 generations. It is located in picturesque Sussex County. We currently offer grass fed, grass finished beef, pastured pork, chickens, turkeys and eggs

All of our products are raised naturally without the use of added antibiotics, hormones or pesticides.

Our beef is wintered over on our hay. Spring through fall they are rotationally grazed on our pastures. Our pigs are fed a balanced grain ration and rotationally graze their pastures. The broiler chickens are kept in large moveable pens. The pens provide shade and safety from predators. The pens are moved to fresh pasture daily. They are given natural feed to supplement what they pick up in the pasture. We raise one flock of Broad breasted Bronze turkeys each year for Thanksgiving.  They are also rotationally grazed. Our layer flock has their own travel trailer. This provides their protection from predators, a place to roost and nests to lay their eggs. They freely wander their pasture and hop into their trailer whenever they feel the need. We move the layers and their trailer to fresh pasture frequently.

We invite you to visit our farm. We enjoy showing you our content animals and discussing how we keep them safe and healthy in a humane fashion. We use good husbandry practices to let them live as nature intended with as little intervention as possible. If you would like to visit, please call or email so we can ‘hang near the barn’ and wait for you. You may even be put to work collecting eggs!

We sell our products direct from our farm. Order your product on our website, by email, or call. We suggest that you pre-order our products as quantities are limited and sell out quickly.

Pure Indian Foods is a small family-owned business that takes pride in making an exceptional quality Ghee from Grass-Fed cows.  Ghee is butter with the milk solids removed. Our family has been in this business in Northern India for 5 generations, since 1889.  We make our ghee fresh, with care, in small batches, right here in the USA. We use Grass-Fed, USDA-certified Organic butter for making our ghee, and we are in the process of applying for Organic certification.

Ghee has been used for its health-giving and healing properties for thousands of years.  In Ayurveda (the “science of life”), cow ghee is considered one of the most sacred foods.

Ghee is the best cooking oil as it is stable at higher temperatures, and it enhances the flavor of spices and herbs. Ghee is free of casein and lactose and is suitable for people who are allergic to dairy products. It keeps skin soft, and has anti-aging properties. Ghee contains naturally occurring CLA, Omega-3, Vitamins A, D, E & K2. It is free of harmful trans-fats.

Ghee is shelf-stable and we ship worldwide by USPS, UPS, FedEx or DHL.  We offer special discounts to co-ops and buying clubs.
