Cedar Dawn Farm rests in agricultural Monroe County, West Virginia. Our family oriented operation was established in 2000. We currently raise meat goats, primarily boer/kiko crosses as well as beef cattle that we purchase as yearlings from a local producer. In keeping with an all natural approach, we only use medications or wormers to correct health issues. Our meat animals are rotationally grazed on browse and pasture; not fed corn or grain.

We are a licensed meat distributor and work with a local federally inspected meat processing facility to ensure product quality and to supply our customers with high quality, custom ordered cuts of meat. We typically have ground beef as well as a variety of steaks and roasts as well as goat in the freezer.

Frog Eye Vineyard is small family farm and winery in the Pleasant Valley of Washington County, Maryland. We sell pork, honey, and wine. We create products that promote the health and wellbeing of our animals, land, and customers.

Our mission is to provide the highest quality meat raised in the most natural, humane, and healthy environment possible, while connecting the consumer to the farmer, so that they know and trust the story behind their food.

Our pasture-raised pigs live in groups of five with more than two acres per group to graze, sunbathe, root through the dirt, and wallow in their self-made mud holes. They eat milk, fruit, and what they find on pasture. We use no corn, soy, antibiotics, pesticides, herbicides, or hormones. The result is happy pigs and healthier, flavorful meat.

We feed our pigs in a way that reduces the amount of polyunsaturated fats (PUFA) in the meat. Unlike cows and other ruminant animals, pigs are what they eat. The fat composition of pork is completely in our control. Modern feedlots, and even many small farms, feed pigs corn and soy, which are high in PUFA.

The amount of PUFA in the American diet has skyrocketed in recent decades. The evidence that excess PUFA is a major contributor to modern diseases continues to accumulate. These oils accumulate in pork if you feed it to the animals, and they also accumulate in humans.

Hillyrock Farm is a small family farm that direct-markets its natural, grass finished beef in the form of:

  • “Hillyrock Steerburger” ground beef of the whole animal, including 60% of the prime cuts, and
  • Freezer Beef: whole, side and split side of beef that families store in their freezer for year-round meals.

Hillyrock Farm is operated by Bob and Diane Browning with support and guidance from master farmer and neighbor, Ralph Warren, Jr. Hillyrock is located in a savannah in the Greenbrier Valley—the high and lush valley in the Allegheny Mountain range of West Virginia—on grassland that is rich in minerals and fed with a mountain spring. The farm has been in operation for over 200 years and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Our farm practices for grass finishing cattle rely on long-standing best practices as well as on adaption to current and tested agricultural science; fortunately the two most often are the same. Our cattle are free of growth hormones, antibiotics and are raised and fattened on grass. We process our meat at a family run abattoir that is WV Dept. of Agriculture and USDA inspected.

We make weekly deliveries to Charleston, May-October, and bi-weekly deliveries November-April.

Hoopes Heritage Farms: “Farming focused to facilitate not manipulate.”

Hoopes Heritage Farms offers beef, pork, chicken, soy-free eggs, lamb and dairy herd shares. Retail cuts and bulk orders are available, with pick up at the farm by appointment or through monthly deliveries at select locations.

Beef: 100% grass-fed and finished Hereford cattle in a closed herd system. We do not acquire cattle from any outside source such as sale barns or day-old calves from conventional dairy farms. No hormones or antibiotics EVER; this includes vaccinations!

Pork: Our purebred Berkshire hogs are raised entirely outdoors and moved regularly, incorporating both pasture and woodlands. We offer a daily ration of organic and soy-free seed which we source and sprout ourselves, focusing on proper omega 6 to omega 3 ratios. We encourage natural growth rather than maximum daily gain.

Chicken: We facilitate old-fashioned breeds capable of natural self-breeding—not “super-hybrid, laboratory created and bred chickens” fed out in 6 to 9 weeks. Heritage chickens can take 4 to 6 months to raise properly. They are smaller, leaner, and packed with true chicken flavor. Our chickens are 100% pastured and allowed to mature at a natural pace. We supplement our chickens with organic, soy-free feed which we source and mix ourselves. We prioritize achieving a balanced omega 6 to omega 3 essential fatty acid profile.

Soy-Free Eggs: We strive for longevity in our heritage breed hens, appreciating them for all they provide—from the incredible eggs to the incomparable, nutrient-rich broth they will create after a long life helping keep our pastures clean. Respecting the reproductive system’s natural design, we do not artificially force production during winter.

Lamb: We raise purebred Jacob sheep in a closed-herd system. Our sheep are rotated regularly on full pasture year-round.

Dairy Herd Share: For those interested in enjoying the many benefits of owning a 100% grass-fed, A2-A2 Jersey, without all the work.

The Liggett Farm has been a family-run farm since 1872. Nestled in the rolling hills of Southwestern Pennsylvania at the divide between the Cross Creek and Buffalo creek watersheds, the farm is blessed with many natural springs. Many of these springs have been developed and are directed into watering troughs for the growing cattle herd. Fresh water and abundant grass on our 187-acre farm is our (not so) secret to raising healthy grassfed beef. We utilize a rotational grazing system to maximize the utilization of the pasture grasses during the growing season. We grow and harvest our own hay and haylage fed to the cattle.

Approximately half of the farm is pasture while the other half is used for growing the hay needed to feed our herd and a few acres of non-GMO corn which is all sold to a local elevator. The corn fields are necessary for our crop rotation, weed control and for utilization of the substantial amount of manure produced by our cows during cold winter and calving season—about 2 months out of the year—when they are housed in the barn. The yearlings that I keep for grassfed beef stay out on pasture and are fed haylage until it gets too cold then they are fed dry round bales of second cut through the winter. We grow our own oats straw bedding which keeps all our cattle warm and dry.

Beef is available by pre-order. Freezer beef is sold by the whole, half and split quarter. All our beef is processed locally using a dry-aging process. Please call for current prices and to get your name on the list for this year’s beef.

Misty Mountain Farm is 160 acres of rolling hills in Calhoun County, WV. Purchased as a 100-year-old rundown homestead, we are slowly restoring our land naturally. Through rotational grazing of our Dexter cattle, Gloucestershire Old Spots Pigs, and pastured chickens and turkeys, we hope to bring balance and fertility back to our pastures.

Broilers are available beginning in June and until early fall. A limited number of turkeys are raised for Thanksgiving. Our beef is from Dexter cattle and Dexter crosses, 100% grass fed/finished beef is offered by the side or whole. We also offer finished pork by the side or whole in the fall and spring from our heritage GOS Pigs who are raised outside on grass. None of our animals are given antibiotics or hormones and our poultry and pigs are not fed GMO grains.

Mon Valley Farms, LLC is a small group of family farmers that have come together to sell all natural beef from the Mon River Valley area. We have chosen not to use any added growth-stimulating hormones or antibiotics, so you and your family can enjoy beef that is free from chemical residues.

Our livestock are pasture-raised on nutritious grasses, hay, and their mother's milk, and harvested at a younger "petite" age. This allows you to enjoy smaller, high quality cuts that are naturally lower in fat. Our beef is processed in a local USDA inspected plant and comes to you quick-frozen and vacuum-packed in heavy plastic to ensure your dining pleasure while at the same time having an excellent storage life.

We are also proud that we have adopted low impact, sustainable farming practices—like streamside fencing and rotational grazing. While Mon Valley Farms, LLC is raising top quality beef, we are also raising a more positive outlook for farm families who want to maintain their rural life style and economic viability.

Parting Ridge Farm is a small, family-owned farm located on both sides of the WV/VA border, a little over two hours from WDC. Our farm has been in the family for over 100 years. We provide whole grassfed lamb and grassfed Angus beef by the quarters and halves, as well as both by the cut or box. We have raised quality, healthy beef for a tri-state area for over 28 years.

Large quantities such as halves and quarters or whole lambs may be picked up at our Harrisonburg, VA (near I-81) processor. Smaller quantities may be picked up on the farm. Because we are so far out in the country, we also offer monthly delivery points in larger towns within a two and a half hour radius, as long as there is an acceptable amount of monthly purchases. We have just begun this practice and are currently serving Sterling, VA, outside WDC. Contact us to organize a delivery point in your area to have quality grassfed beef and lamb delivered monthly to your office complex or neighborhood.

As seasoned grassfed farmers, we believe in sustainable agriculture, low-impact farming, streamside fencing and rotational grazing. Kent has been keen on every aspect of grassfed farming since its inception. Our pastures are not certified organic, but looking at the requirements, we feel they would qualify. We supplement our livestock with organic kelp. We use no growth hormones and no antibiotics. Our beeves are raised in lush meadows and extremely remote mountaintops in peaceful, chemical-free conditions. Our lambs are raised on a separate local farm with the same practices. Our animals are treated gently at all times and learn to trust our care. They move gently and peacefully.

We are not looking to be a large company. Our mission is to steadily provide an ongoing quality grassfed beef product throughout the coming years to people like ourselves who believe in a healthy way to live and eat. Thank you for reading our listing. We hope you will choose us for your grassfed needs. Our beef is lean, dark red, simply beautiful, and tastes wonderful. Sarver Heritage Farm is a 3rd generation beef farm on 250 acres of beautiful rolling hills in the Organ Cave area of WV.

This is a ‘forever’ farm, via the Farmland Protection Program. Basically, we’re a couple of hermits who avoid bright lights and buzzwords, off in the highlands raising the best darn beef you’ll ever taste. We’re the first, and so far the only, AGA-Certified Producer Farm in West Virginia. Our farming practices are featured in an international agricultural magazine and two upcoming books devoted to artisanal beef. Our practices, animals and records are fully documented and audited annually by AGA; we’re real, not buzz. We are what happens when you turn an artist/philosopher and a biology geek/animal lover loose with grandpa’s cattle farm.

If you’re looking for extremely lean grass fed beef—we can’t help you. Our Angus/Galloway herd produces beautifully marbled, dry aged steaks from fully fat-covered carcasses. Food reviewers swoon over it. From the Artisan Beef Institute: “I’m in hamburger heaven.” From Craig “Meathead” Goldwyn: “…the Platonic ideal of the modern steak.Sooooo beautifully beefy and best of all, balanced.” Yes, it’s that good. No, you can't get thirty pounds of Rib Eyes.

Nutrition testing data is on our website and our FB page, (yes, we care enough to have our own testing done), as is all the information folks try to convey or imply with buzzwords.

Our beef is USDA inspected and available by the cut at all HealthSmart Stores, The Alderson Food Hub, and through our Online Store. We offer Split Sides, Half, and Whole Beef from the farm only; prices based on hanging weight, pre-order/deposit required. Please see web site for details.

Other farm products:

  • Handcrafted Organic Soaps
  • Jams from our own pesticide/herbicide/fungicide-free fruit, cane sugar and pectin—and nothing else,
  • VERY limited quantities of poultry, raised Free Range on organic feed: Eggs, Capons, Fryers and ‘Broilers,’ Heritage Breed Turkeys.

Swift Level's rolling 152 acres are located just outside of Lewisburg in Greenbrier County. Family farming in southern WV since 1843, we have a love of land and animals.

Our Angus steers are born "across the fence" on our neighbor's farm where we watch them grow and play with their herd on free pasture grazing and hay. They come "through the gate" to us at 10–12 months of age where we finish them on the same familiar grasses until they have naturally matured to their individual finished weight, between 20–27 months. The steers move about freely on well managed pastures, have abundant flowing clean spring water, and are supplemented only with organic kelp and necessary supported minerals for balanced health. Thoughtful and wise animal husbandry practices insure our animals have the best life we can offer them. We are in compliance with a USDA/NRCS organic land certification program. All streams, springs and woodlands are protected.

We use a small, family run USDA, Animal Welfare Approved abattoir. It is vitally important to us that slaughter is done thoughtfully and carefully. Our beef dry-hangs for a minimum of 30 days. All packaging is vacuum sealed. Tag numbers are imprinted to trace each package of beef from birth to consumer. This delicious beef sells by the cut, no order too small or too large! We process year round and ship direct all over the country.

To order: Please visit our website for cut and price listing, updated weekly
