Amy’s Grass-Fed, Grass-Finished Beef thrive on native grass from birth to harvest. Amy and her husband, Todd, have been grass-finishing Angus-crossbred beef for 18 years directly serving local consumers along the Colorado Front Range. Our cattle “finish,” in their second year, on high-altitude mountain pastures in western Larimer County. These lands are lush with native grasses, plants, and forbs that provide a nourishing and serene environment. The end result is content cattle that consistently produce great tasting, healthy meat.

Our beef cattle are sourced and hand-selected from two, upstanding, family-owned ranches that raise healthy, hardy animals grown on grass in their rural, native pastures. In winter they are supplemented with hay, to insure a natural forage diet. Humane methods are always used to move the cattle frequently to holistically maintain our lands and waterways that also feed local and migrating wildlife.

We are not USDA certified organic but raise only forage-fed (no grain, no soy, no corn), hormone and antibiotic-free meat. Our tender and deliciously flavored beef is lean and nutritious, providing a distinct flavor that only high-altitude grass-finished cattle produce.

We sell whole, half and quarters of beef. A limited supply of assorted cuts, burger, and organ meats may also be available in early December. The meat is ready for pickup, or delivery can be arranged from October to December. We harvest and process our cattle at a small, custom plant located in Evans, CO where the meat is dry aged for 14–21 days and USDA inspected. Orders can be made by phone, or complete the website order form and mail.

Please visit our website and read what some of our customers have to say!

Arriola Sunshine Farm raises Navajo-Churro Sheep, Bourbon Red turkeys, lettuce, fruits and other produce. We direct market grass-fed Churro lamb to individuals. Our turkeys are sold as live birds only. Contact us to be placed on our list for USDA Navajo Churro lamb, breeding stock or live turkeys. We also offer registered animals, raw fleeces, carded wool, felt and skins.

We are in the business of harvesting solar energy and sequestering carbon with green plants. Our mission is to create healthy land, healthy animals, healthy people, and a healthy economy. Nature guides us as we practice Holistic Management of our resources. Navajo-Churro lamb is lower in fat than commercial breeds. Cool mountain air, healthy soils, clean water, and healthy grass contribute to our unique tender “sweet” flavor.

We do not feed antibiotics or growth hormones to any of our livestock. Navajo-Churro Sheep are resistant to worms and retain natural lambing instincts, requiring less medical care than commercial breeds. We feed hay as needed in the winter. We provide humane care including vaccinations and de-worming as necessary. Our birds and sheep are happy!

B Bar S Ranch is a beef cattle ranching operation with two family-owned Colorado locations in the scenic Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Our high mountain pasture in Nederland, CO has been family owned since 1968 and our high plains ranch south of Elizabeth, CO has been family-owned and operated since 1990.

The beef that we provide will have been fed over the summer on grass in the high mountain pasture. Our cattle are not given any growth hormones or antibiotics. They live healthy lives with exercise, plenty of grass, fresh mountain spring water and open space. We take precautions to never overgraze our land and use a rotational grazing system to keep the feed fresh and loaded with nutrition.

We sell beef to our customers in early September of every year. There is a minimum order of 1/4 of a beef. The best way to order is to split a half with someone you know. We will help you with communicating the specifics to the packer so the meat gets cut and packed to the specifications best for your family needs. Currently we have our beef processed at Arapahoe Packing in Lafayette, CO.

Blue Sage Ranch in Big Horn, WY raises lamb and beef in a natural environment, using low-stress handling and minimal human intervention to provide a wholesome product grown for naturally superior genetics as nature has selected. We also sell eggs locally in multiple markets throughout Sheridan, WY.

Through multi-species grazing and careful pasture management, we raise healthy, productive chickens, sheep, and cattle without the use of additives, supplemental feeds or industrial chemicals. It limits the cost of shipping, excess fuel consumption and other costs to the environment while growing the local economy and improving our overall quality of life.

Lambs and calves are born on pasture in the spring, following the natural cycle of mother nature and all other wild herbivores to limit predation and parasites and maximize a grass-finished product for late fall.

Half or whole beef is available late summer as mixed cuts; select cut orders are available by special request. Half or whole lamb is available early spring as mixed cuts.

Cedar Springs Farm is a small family farm in the mountains of Colorado utilizing regenerative and sustainable practices on our 40-acre farm.

We raise 100% grassfed cattle, rotationally grazed through lush pastures and forests. They drink pure spring water right from the source and never ever receive drugs or grains of any kind. From this herd we offer A2A2 raw milk and butter, along with beef and veal.

We also raise pastured kunekune hogs. They forage year round and we finish them on peaches in the fall to create delicious and healthy pork.

All of our animals are integrated into our silvopasture permaculture system, which includes over 10,000 fruit and nut trees, providing the livestock with food and shade. Our system of swales creates ideal water management because manure runoff from the animals is kept far away from the creek and instead gets concentrated as fertilizer on the tree plantings.

We offer meat and dairy that is completely free of chemicals, drugs, grain, stress and sorrow because the animals are born here, raised here and die here. We offer farm tours, classes, apprenticeships, custom processing and much more!

Dirty Spur Cattle Company raises pure bred Texas Longhorns. All of our animals are born and raised right here in Highland, Utah and never leave one of our pastures. They are grass fed from the day they are born to the day they are slaughtered, and are never given any hormones or antibiotics.

We process our meat at the only USDA certified slaughter house in Utah County and we deliver our meat right to your home. You can trust that these cows are all-natural, hormone-free and never given anything but grass to eat all the days of their lives.

Our meat is extremely lean and has been tested at 92–98% lean. Thanks to Texas Longhorn beef, today's health-conscious consumer doesn't have to avoid tender juicy steaks. Not only is Longhorn beef leaner than that of other breeds, it is also lower in saturated fats. The flavorful Longhorn beef has less cholesterol and calories than chicken. Definitely good news for a healthy lifestyle!

"Lean beef is good for you – and the key word is lean. Longhorn meat on the average, contains 10 percent less saturated fat than that of other cattle. That puts lean Longhorn beef on par with skinned boneless white meat of chicken and that fact may come as a surprise to many dieticians." —Dr. Joseph Graham, Cardiovascular Surgeon at St. John's Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri.

We sell our beef in quarters, halves and full cows. You can also purchase ground beef from us in any quantity at any time of year. You can read more about the amazing qualities of Texas Longhorn lean meat on our website. We'd love to talk to you more about these amazing animals. Please give us a call.

Green Place Ranch raises natural grassfed beef in SouthWest Colorado on the Uncompaghre Plateau.

We are a sustainable operation using solar power for all of our infrastructure requirements. This includes water pumping, ranch headquarters, home and office. We practice rotational grazing on the 320 acre ranch and on the 4,500 acres of grazing surrounding the ranch.

We raise our beef using only pasture and ranch raised stored forage (hay). We use no chemical fertilizers, herbicides, hormones, grain or grain based feed in raising these animals. We do not confinement feed, and all of our animals are raised in a low stress, open environment.

We sell halves and wholes directly to our customers, with processing by both state- and USDA-inspected facilities, as chosen by the customer. We deliver to the processor and the customer picks up their order when ready.

We are based on Colorado's Western Slope and are happy to serve customers within a 300 mile radius. We have our own USDA approved label (granted in May of 2007) and are providing selected local (our 300 mile radius) natural and health food stores with our products on a piece/cut basis.

Individual customers will enjoy a considerable discount from piece prices by purchasing by the half or whole. If you wish to buy a half, we can match you up with another customer that also wishes a half. We are also now selling Beef Paks in $250 and $500 orders. These are an assortment of ground beef and primal cuts, steaks and roasts.

We are just now beginning construction of the first of 6 greenhouses, 30' X 40' each, in which we will be raising clean healthy produce and we will also have eggs, chickens and turkeys this year to be offered at the Montrose Farmers market or available from the ranch directly to the customer on a pre-order/pick-up basis.

Give us a call for more information. We generally have a couple of animals available at any given time, or available within a reasonable pre-order time.

Grunniens Ranch is committed to the development of the finest yaks for breeding stock, companions, and the production of a healthy and delicious meat, on a sustainable grass-based ranch. Our pastures are located on the high prairies of Elbert County, Colorado.

Our yaks are not given low level antibiotics or growth hormones. Pound for pound, yaks need one third the used sunshine (grass) as their domestic cattle cousins, making sustainability goals that much closer.

The cliche says "Once you go Yak, you'll never go back!" and that's pretty close. Yak is a great alternative to beef and bison. It is a naturally lean, low in fat, with a healthy fat profile. In addition to their outstanding meat, yaks provide wonderful fiber and are excellent pack animals.

We take custom orders anytime but are finding it difficult to keep up with demand. Please call for availability.

Hanover Dexter Cattle Company at Rockin' B Ranch began raising grass-fed, organic (non-certified), registered Dexter cattle on 100 acres nearly 10 years ago. We soon discovered that independent taste tests and nutritional research demonstrated that Dexter beef had exceptional taste and tenderness and outstanding nutritional benefits as compared to larger breeds—even Angus. We still sell by the half and whole, but with fewer families having a dedicated freezer, we began selling Dexter beef in small packages and shipping throughout the U.S.

Our animals graze native pastures of eastern Colorado and are fed a variety of native hays during the winter months. As stewards of nature we never administer antibiotics or growth hormones to our cattle nor ever use chemicals on the land. By moving the herd every 5 days during the growing season we allow the grasses to recover and rejuvenate; the cattle consistently drink from fresh water sources year-round. Spring calves are born in the pastures as nature intended. Cattle are never confined and fed grain or similar supplemental feed unless a customer requests grain-finished and purchases the entire animal.

We have daily contact with all our animals. That familiarity creates a herd that is gentle and contented, resulting in more flavorful meat. The short distance to the USDA processing plant in Colorado Springs reduces the stress of transportation. We ship our variety packaged meat in reusable insulated boxes with reusable freezer bricks, eliminating any chemical concerns with dry-ice. Please contact us for delivery options.

Beef is usually processed in October/November when they are about 20 months of age. Please do not wait until the Fall to order as quantities are limited.

We encourage our customers to always seek out and buy locally produced foodstuffs, especially if they are grass-fed. The benefits are numerous: a strengthening of agrarian communities; the overall ecosystem benefits; the consumer is severing the umbilical cord from the corporate giants; sustainable food systems are created; open space is preserved. Perhaps most importantly, as a consumer of locally produced foods, you connect to the land and the soil in a special and intimate way otherwise not available.

James Ranch. Three generations of James’s and their families welcome the accelerated interest in their grassed-based, organically, locally produced meats, cheese, vegetables & flowers, eggs, and trees. All our products are sustainably grown on the ranch we have stewarded for forty-eight years in the Animas Valley, 10 miles north of Durango, Colorado.

We currently sell 100% grass-fed and finished beef, from Red Angus cows—by the side or by the steak—never away from our supervision until on your grill. Our artisan cheeses are made of raw milk from our Jersey cows raised and milked right on the ranch. We’ve been making these distinctive cheeses over eight years; they stand alone among Colorado homestead cheeses. Our pastured chickens produce brown & green eggs sought after by our local customers for their outstanding taste. We devote six acres to growing vegetables, flowers, and fruits that defy the imagination and short growing season of our high mountain valley. We don’t expect our customers to eat our spruce trees, but recommend these mature, naturally grown, native trees for your landscape needs.

Both our beef herd and dairy herd are completely grass based. All of our animals are raised without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, hormones or antibiotics. We strongly believe in farming and ranching sustainably and improving the land whenever possible. We love to have our customers see what we do and learn of our holistic practices that support the healthy land, crops, animals, and families. During the summer from June thru October we have guided tours two days per week, using an electric cart for ease of transport and enjoyment.

Our products are available at our own Ranch Market (Open M-F, 11:00-6:00, May-Oct. and open Saturdays 1-4:30, during the winter). We also make our products available at the Durango and Telluride Farmer’s Markets, regional natural food stores and singular restaurants in the area. Visit our website for more specifics about each product. Contact us about shipping possibilities.

The Lazy P Ranch in northern Colorado offers a very unique way to put naturally raised, home-grown beef on the family table. The cattle are born on the ranch and are raised without the use of chemicals, hormones, or antibiotics. The cattle at the Lazy P Ranch are allowed to graze freely with minimal confinement as they are rotated through irrigated pastures. This practice keeps both the cattle and the pasture in top condition at all times by never putting either in a stressful situation.

Families visit the ranch and pick an individual calf that will be tagged with their name. As the animal matures on the grass pasture, it is supplemented with quality, home-grown feed. Families are encouraged to visit the ranch throughout the feeding process and watch as their beef is grown and finished to optimal weight and condition. When a family's animal approaches the end of the feeding process, the family works one on one with the meat processor of their choice to ensure they receive the cuts and package weights that best fit their needs. Since the Lazy P herd is relatively small, each animal is given the best care possible with the emphasis on quality rather than quantity.

Maytag Mountain Ranch cattle: organically raised, grass-finished beef. A truly exceptional taste experience marrying natural goodness with tender robust flavor.

Our cattle are born and raised in the beautiful Wet Mountain Valley in the shadow of Colorado's spectacular Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Maytag Mountain Ranch's 2953 acres are lush and green; its days warm and nights cool. Our management intensive rotation grazing system ensures they have plenty of fresh, protein rich grass to eat.

Our pastures are never artificially fertilized. Our cattle drink ice-cold spring water—so clean and pure it has been tested safe for people to drink. We NEVER use hormones and NEVER use antibiotics. Our cattle are not taken to the feedlot to be "finished." Instead they fatten on natural grass, the way nature intended.

Maytag Mountain Ranch Beef has higher levels of Omega 3 fatty acids, which lower the risk of heart disease, and which may reduce the risk of cancer. It is lower in total fat than beef from conventionally raised (corn finished) cattle, resulting in fewer calories. This makes our beef a wonderful, healthy food for people and, best of all, it tastes great! For more information visit our website.

Miele Farms Inc. sells 100% all-natural beef, pork, lamb and poultry (chickens) from animals raised in a healthy pastoral environment.

Miele Farms Inc. is a Colorado-based farm owned and operated by Julie Miele. Julie has spent over a decade in the cattle industry, during which time she developed a passion for raising healthy and happy cattle. As Julie's family grew, she also developed a passion for feeding her family the healthiest food possible. Both of these passions combined to create Miele Farms Inc., a pasture-based, sustainably-managed farm focused on raising healthy food in an environmentally beneficial manner.

In order to do this, Miele Farms Inc. utilizes rotational grazing, species stacking and symbiotic management practices to raise animals in the most natural manner possible. This means that our animals are fed only what they are designed to eat, are drug-free and constantly move in order to allow the land to rest, recovering and regenerating even healthier than before.

The end result is that Miele Farms' grass-finished meats are higher in CLA, omega 3s, vitamin B, vitamin E, calcium, magnesium and potassium, lower in omega 6s and saturated fat, and chemical- and antibiotic-free.

Our calves are born and raised at home, processed locally, and then aged to ensure taste and tenderness. We treat our animals humanely, and do not use chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides on our pastures. We do not treat our grassfat calves with antibiotics, synthetic growth hormones, nor feed animal by-products.

At Rockin J Cattle, we try to maintain a balance in our production model, simulating what occurs in nature. From calving in sync with the local wildlife, to utilizing grazing methods which mimic the predator – prey relationship that occurred in nature thousands of years ago.

We herd our cattle, using temporary electric fences, simulating the herding effects caused by a predator. By managing the grazing patterns of the animals, the nutrient cycle is complete,as 99% of what the cattle take from the land is returned, resulting in increased levels of carbon in the soil. This cycling of nutrients allows us to forego the application of fertilizers to our fields.

Whereas others strive to finish their beef within 18 months, we strive to finish our beef within 24-30 months of age. Just as a fine wine develops its flavor with age, I believe that this also contributes to the flavor of our beef. The harvesting of our beef is done locally at a small family operated business.

You can get our beef by the pound, medium size packages, quarters, sides or in volume if you want to start a buying club. It is available at the Steamboat Springs Farmers Market (6th & Lincoln), Saturdays 8-2, the Bamboo and Sweet Pea Markets in Steamboat Springs, CO, Rocky Plains Meats in Dacono and Ft. Collins, CO, It is also served in Steamboat Springs at the Bear River Bar and Grill (Ski Time Square), Freshies Restaurant (Highway 40), The Drunken Onion (Wild Horse Shopping Center), and The Epicurean (825 Oak Street).

We deliver to Steamboat Springs and the Front Range monthly; sign up for our newsletter on our website for ongoing delivery information.

Sacred Song Farm is a family-owned and operated, beyond-organic ranch situated in the beautiful Mancos Valley. We use permaculture and holistic management to produce the highest quality pastured meats while regenerating the land by responsibly grazing. We feature heritage breed animals selected specifically to succeed in our unique climate. We provide a full range of the highest quality products including 100% Grass Fed Beef, Non-GMO Pastured Pork, and 100% Grass Fed Lamb.

Our system for achieving top-quality products is simple: we mimic nature. We see ourselves primarily as a soil-building enterprise. Healthy soils = healthy animals = healthy people. We raise our animals in their most natural, stress-free state, limiting our inputs to sun, water, grass, and animal movement.

100% Grass Fed Beef. Our cattle are never given anti-biotics, hormones, vaccinations, animal by-products, or grain. They are moved daily to new growth to optimize nutrition, weight gain, and marbling.

Non-GMO Forest Fed Pork. Our pork comes from Mangalitsa and Kune Kune hogs, breeds that grow well on forage. They are never given anti-biotics, growth hormones, animal by-products, or vaccinations. Their forage diet (grass, acorns, juniper berries, shrubs, and local fruit) is supplemented with a minimal amount of non-GMO corn from our neighbors at Bow & Arrow Foods, and sunflower mash pellets from non-GMO, Colorado-grown sunflowers.

100% Grass Fed Lamb. Our lambs are all Navajo Churro, a heritage breed that has grazed our Four Corners’ landscape since the 16th century. They are prized for their lean meat and light flavor. Our lambs are never given anti-biotics, growth hormones, animal by-products, or vaccinations. We rotate them regularly on diverse pastures for optimal nutrition and land management.

Pastured Protein CSA. We deliver a variety of our meats monthly to the Durango, Dolores, Mancos and Cortez areas to members through our CSA. See our website for more details!

Sangres Best offers premium grass fed beef with a satisfaction guarantee since 1995. The cattle are never fed antibiotics or ionophores nor do they ever receive artificial hormones of any kind. We handle these cattle with expertise, gentleness and respect. Choose from a multitude of beef packages ranging from 10 pounds to 400 pounds per order of USDA inspected beef, packaged with high tech barrier film insuring long-term freezer protection. We deliver within 250 miles of the ranch for a nominal fee.

Sangres Best Beef cattle graze Music Meadows Ranch, recently conserved via the San Isabel Land Protection Trust. This mountain ranch has been in the Parker family since 1968. The cattle water from streams and ponds and thrive on a buffet of rich grasses on naturally fertilized, irrigated and dry land pastures which build a wonderful flavor profile into the beef.

Discriminating restaurants in the San Francisco Bay area are now serving Sangres Best aka Brandon Natural Beef. Our customers consistently tell us this is the best tasting, most tender beef they have been able to find. We believe it is a combination of forage quality, breed type, humane handling and heavy mature finished condition on the cattle. Each of these factors is critical.

On another note, if you'd like a "no frills - memory rich" vacation, you and your family or friends may come to the ranch as guests, settling into the comfortable ranch house. Then step it up for a horse and cattle adventure, helping tend the cattle. You are also welcome to simply stop in for a visit so we can meet and show you the land and cattle..just give us a heads up so we know you are coming! There is always beef on hand to purchase on site as well.

Sisu Farms raises 100% grass-fed and grass-finished Highland beef, natural pork, pasture-raised chicken and eggs.

We are passionate about raising happy, healthy animals in a natural way that benefits the environment and provides healthy quality meat and eggs. Our farm uses natural methods with no hormones, no antibiotics, no fertilizers or chemicals.

Our Highland cattle live on a natural diet of only the fresh grass in the majestic Rocky Mountain Valley. Highland beef is the oldest breed of cattle with many health benefits. Our cattle are on pasture year round and are a closed herd with no exposure to disease. Calves stay with their mothers for at least 4 months. In winter, Highland cattle use their horns to forage through snow, and we supplement with grass hay.

Our pigs are fed an eclectic diet and have anytime-access to natural forage and plenty of sunshine. The access to sunshine makes the meat richer in micronutrients, particularly fat-soluble vitamins E and D and selenium.

Our pasture-raised chickens eat grass, grains, bugs and scratch around in the dirt, the way nature intended. Pastured poultry are more nutrient-dense specifically in omega 3 fatty acids and vitamins A and E.

Get to know your farmer, contact us for a farm tour! Our farm promotes the many health benefits of eating local and providing humanely and ethically raised animals.

Natural beef has been a tradition at Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch since the mid 60s when Maurice and Mayme Jessup bought their first herd of Charolais. They soon developed a breeding program of registered European bulls, most recently Saler and Gelbvieh, resulting in a unique herd well-suited to the grasslands of our Rocky Mountain foothills.

Our free-range Heart J Cattle graze on mountain grasslands on our 3200-acre ranch and over 4000 acres of National Forest. These lands are protected by perpetual conservation easements. We manage the ecological balance of vegetation through rotational grazing which stimulates re-growth and provides forage that is higher in nutritional value. Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch was the winner of the 2008 "Conservationist of the Year" Award by the Big Thompson Conservation District.

When you buy Heart-J Beef you know where your beef comes from! Buying locally saves shipping which in turn reduces the carbon footprint. Our beef is processed locally in a clean, USDA-inspected facility. When you purchase Heart J Natural Beef you contribute to the preservation of open lands, wildlife and the western lifestyle! Your values realized.

Sylvan Dale participates in both the Loveland and Fort Collins Markets. For dates and times visit www.fortnet.org/market/ or www.belocalnc.org/winter-farmers-market/ for the winter markets.

Thunderbasin Land & Livestock is a family owned and operated ranch located on the high plains of southeastern Wyoming, about 10 miles from the Colorado border. We are USDA Certified Organic, and have employed organic practices continuously since 1987.

We offer only healthy, safe, and delicious lean beef that was raised using ecologically sustainable growing practices. At Thunderbasin Land & Livestock, our cattle are treated humanely and receive no antibiotics, hormones or pour-on insecticides. Much like the patterns of wildlife, our calves are born in the warmth of Spring and are not corralled or penned. They never see a feedlot and are 100% grass-fed and grass-finished, providing you with all the health benefits documented from grass fed beef. Our holistic ranch management practices create healthy riparian zones and prairie, resulting in an abundance of native plants and wildlife on the ranch.

Thunderbasin beef is processed at a USDA inspected plant and can be purchased in whole, halves, and quarters. We also offer convenient combination packages and gift baskets. The beef is available for pickup at the ranch or can be shipped outside the local area.

Touchstone Angus has been producing all natural grass fed angus beef for over 12 years in Colorado and Wyoming. Our cattle are developed on open pasture and are never fed antibiotics or implanted with hormonal growth stimulants.

Angus cattle are well know for their ability to produce tender well-marbled beef. Tenderness combined with the grass-based diet found on the open ranges of Wyoming and Colorado give Touchstone Grass Fed Beef its distinctive flavor.

Touchstone Grass Fed beef is sold in whole, halves and quarters (half of a half). We make an effort to have beef available year around but most of the beef is ready in the fall. Most of our beef is processed at a USDA inspected plant in Elizabeth, Colorado where it can be picked up frozen or stored in a locker. We can ship beef as well if you live outside of Colorado or Wyoming and are unable to pick it up.

WiMo Farms is a small family farm nestled against the foothills of beautiful Berthoud, CO. We take great pride in the humane treatment of all of our animals and believe that all animals should be treated with respect and kindness from birth through butcher.

Our main business is our small raw milk share program from our lovely Jersey cows. They are nearly completely grass-fed, but since we do not have access to pasture year-round, they are fed high quality hays, both grass and alfalfa. We do provide them with a very small amount (about a pound per milking) of no-soy, no-corn grain whilst in the stanchion during milking. Unlike many dairies, our calves stay with their mamas until they are ready to wean. Our girls seem so incredibly happy and we’ve never had any stress or anxiety when the time comes for them to be apart.

We also take great pride in raising free-range, pastured Muscovy ducks, turkeys and a limited number of chickens, all on 100% certified organic feed. Our no-corn, no-soy chicken eggs are available seasonally directly from the farm too. We raise more ducks each year than any other bird and can usually provide duck year-round. Muscovy duck meat is actually the leanest of all poultry and has less fat and less calories per pound than turkey with the breasts being 99 percent lean! It is an incredibly versatile meat. We sell our ducks whole, so you can harvest duck fat to render for your home use too.

Our philosophy is that happy animals doing what nature intended them to do (foraging, socializing, digging, scratching, catching bugs) provide healthier meat, eggs and milk for us, our family and friends.

Y Knot Farm and Ranch raises grass fed, grass finished beef along with growing organic produce and organic wheat and forage. Our beef is raised on organic pastures and most of their feed is grown organically on our ranch, but they are not organic.

The Belted Galloway, also known as Belties, is a rare heritage breed. This beef is known for a couple very different attributes vis-a-vis conventional beef. They genetically have no back fat, as an extra very fine coat gives them the warmth they need. This means the meat is extra lean (about 40% fewer calories than standard beef). They have close to 90% less trans fats, cholesterol, and fat calories than regular beef. On the other hand they are high in protein, omega 3 and 6, and calcium. They are also very tender and the meat does not have a "gamy" taste.

The reason they are so rare is that they grow slowly (steers take twice as long to raise as the standard commercial breeds). That and their smaller frame means they do not work in a commercial setting. We do not use any hormonal implants or antibiotics raising our beef, but rather let them grow as nature intended.

The Financial Times of London declared the Belted Galloway beef the best beef available in the UK. However, the limited number in the United States means we cannot find any restaurants that sell their meat. With 50 cows, our Y Knot Farm and Ranch was the second largest registrant of Belties in t he US in 2017.
