Alger Family Farm wants to provide people with healthy food, as affordably as we can. Currently, we offer pastured chickens and turkeys, grass-finished beef and lamb, whole wheat bread, all natural soaps, and free-range eggs.
Our meat chickens and turkeys start out right on pasture in a floorless pen. The pen has a hover with a heat lamp so they can run under to get warm. They also run around pecking the ground for bugs and vegetation from their very first day of life. At this stage we move them as needed. At two to three weeks, they no longer need the heat lamp and begin to get moved through our pasture daily. In addition to the bugs and vegetation, we feed them a Certified Organic and GMO-free feed ration. Our moveable pens keep them safe from predators while still allowing them fresh air, sunshine and access to the bugs and vegetation they need. When they are around eight weeks old, they are ready to butcher.
Our lamb and beef is 100% pasture finished and the animals only eat grass, other plants, salt and a high quality kelp and mineral supplement. We never give them hormones, antibiotics or chemical wormers. We spray no chemicals on our pastures.
Our free-range laying hens sleep in a moveable hoophouse and are protected on about 1/4 acre by an electric woven fence which we move as needed. We feed them a Certified Organic and GMO-free feed ration. They are allowed out during the day to eat all the bugs and plant material they desire.
Our bread is all natural and baked with certified chemical-free whole white wheat. Our soaps are all natural. We never add any artificial colorings or synthetic fragrances as herbs and essential oils add fragrance and even color to them. Hard soaps last longer and these soaps do just that. Each batch is mixed and cut by hand, so there will be slight variations in our handmade soaps. Each bar is approximately 4 ounces.

At Cedar Cove Farm, we believe in raising

David Inyart raises grass fed beef in Tunas, MO, about a one-hour drive north of Springfield.
One of the key elements to raising high quality grass fed beef is having high quality forage. I have been fully convinced of, and am presently implementing, intensive grazing, which is a great way to manage your pastures. When intensive grazing, the animals are put in a small area, which concentrates their manure (thus fertilizing the pasture) and helps to maintain more even grazing. Rotating the animals on a regular basis, (once a day in my case), gives the animals fresh pasture every day, and gives the manure time to break down and the grass time to regrow before grazing again. By intensive grazing, you can lengthen the grazing season, provide high quality forage longer through the summer, and stockpile grass for the winter, lessening the need for hay. During the winter, the cattle are fed hay only; I do not feed any grain whatsoever. I do not use any hormones, antibiotics, herbicides or pesticides. Cattle have access to free choice minerals and salt year round.
Beef is available by the whole, half, and quarter, and is sold by the hanging weight. It can be picked up at the butcher or delivered for a fee. Beef by the individual cut is also available.

Deep Blue Farms, in north-central Arkansas, is owned and managed by John and Gayle Armstrong. Our focus is on raising the most wholesome, natural, wonderful-for-you chicken, pork, and beef. We are pursuing real, quality food for ourselves and our families, and we want you to share in the goodness.
Our beef is grass-finished, supplemented only with natural minerals and salt, in a rotational grazing system. We raise our own calves and leave them with their mamas for at least six to eight months. Our pork is pastured, also in a rotational system, feeding on non-GMO corn, grass, acorns, and other foods they find in their natural environment. Our Red Broiler chickens are also moved to fresh grass each day, feeding on clover, grass and bugs, along with the natural, non-GMO grains they need. We also raise turkeys on pasture once a year, to be available in November.
None of our animals are treated with hormones or steroids; antibiotics are used rarely and only as needed. They are treated with love and care. Our pastures are free of chemical fertilizer and grow lush on the rotational grazing system. Our own well supplies plenty of fresh water for the animals.

Poultry fryers raised on healthy mixed forage
pasture with natural grain supplements are housed in movable pens and
relocated daily to fresh forage. Fryer orders need to be in by April
1st and August 1st and will be ready 8-10 weeks later.
Fresh eggs are available, laid by happy hens
that forage in the fields and are given home grown natural grain. They
produce beautiful, healthy, tasty eggs.
Lambs and young goats are raise entirely
on grass with no grain in their diets.
A few pigs are available each year, raised

Family Friendly Farm is a family farm business with a store located just ten minutes north of Cape Girardeau and delivery to St. Louis, MO. Grazeland Farms produces pasture

skim and 2% milk is mislabeled because it tastes so creamy.
The Buchmayers feed their cows a limited amount

At Healing Acres Farm sustainable practices, preserving heritage breeds, education and local attention are our primary focus.
We offer a large variety sustainably grown, chemical free produce, micro-greens and raise 100% grass-fed premium beef, lamb, goat, pastured pork, poultry and eggs.
The majority of our animals are on the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy (ALBC) endangered list. Currently we raise Scottish Highland cattle (one of the oldest heritage breeds in the U.S.), Tamworth hogs (with plans to add Large Blacks—both on ALBC's critical list), and 4–5 heritage breeds of chickens with plans to add heritage turkeys in 2015.

Healthy Tasty Beef is raised
at Walnut Grove Farm, which has been in the family since 1935. Our grass-fed,
grass-finished operation sells only beef born and raised on these
acres in NW Arkansas. We offer overnight shipping by ground to the Kansas
City, Springfield and Joplin areas.
Our pure-bred Hereford cattle are grazed
in pastures of mixed grass. The summer pastures are primarily Bermuda
grass, White Clover, Red Clover and Lespedeza. Late winter and spring
find the cattle feeding on Annual Rye Grass, Wheat and Fescue. Cattle
being prepared for harvest in the winter time are supplemented with
top quality alfalfa hay. We use managed intensive grazing and
never graze forage older than second stage growth. Cattle drink

At Linneman Heritage Hogs, Red Wattles are the breed we currently raise, with the intent to add Herefords. Our pigs (pork) are rotated through 14 paddocks on the perimeter of our five acres. We smooth and re-sow the terrain as they move out of a paddock.
We mix, grind and ferment our rations daily and onsite. We use no corn, soy or GMOs in our rations. Ingredients we use are: wheat, oats, black oil sunflower seeds, field peas, lime, diatomaceous earth, flax, minerals, and kelp. Apple cider vinegar, raw milk, cayenne pepper, turmeric, and homegrown garlic are added when we start the 2–3 day fermentation soak.
We do not chemically deworm, vaccinate, give iron shots, medicate, castrate, clip teeth or tails or confine any of our animals.

The Menefee Ranch is a family

We raise them on pastures of clover and orchard grass. The Old Homestead Farm in Washington, Missouri

Parker Farms Natural Meats has been practicing managed grazing since

Peace Valley Poultry raises field-grazed chicken, turkey and beef. In 1996 our family began growing wholesome range-raised poultry. We are still a small family farm committed to providing high-quality, healthy meat in a manner that respects God's creation.
Our chickens are treated carefully and naturally from day one. The ration we feed them is one we mix from whole grains, vitamins and minerals, and does NOT contain Genetically Modified ingredients or any medications. The pasture they are raised on is pesticide-free/herbicide-free and is managed holistically with rotationally grazed cattle, although it is not certified organic. The chickens are raised in hoop houses that are moved to fresh grass daily to insure healthy birds and pastures. At processing time we continue our practice of careful handling to provide high-quality fresh chicken. The end result is a truly tasty bird; "Like chicken used to taste," as many of our customers say. The chicken is sold either whole, split (in half), cut-up, or in packages of individual parts.
In November we sell turkeys that are raised the same way the chickens are. We have heard many reports from satisfied customers who don't want anything but field-grazed turkeys now that they have tried one. Fresh turkeys are available on the farm and at delivery locations before Thanksgiving.

Red Gate Farm, LLC is a small, family farm, focused on being good stewards of God's creation. Our produce is raised GMO-free, and without chemical pesticides or herbicides. In many cases, we even use heirloom and open-pollinated varieties of fruits and vegetables.

Russell Ranch OK raises purebred Murray Grey and Murray Grey cross cattle. The Murray Grey is known for the important traits of calving ease, feed efficiency, and carcass quality. Murray Grey beef is preferred for its consistent quality and tenderness. We personally guarantee the quality of our beef and strive to produce superior quality grass-fed beef.
We make every effort to finish out our animals on native pastures. However, we do feed purchased feed if the forage is deficient because of drought, ice storms, etc. We have a smaller place (50 acres) in NE Oklahoma and keep a small herd of around 25 grown cows. Although we have excellent pastures, we feed hay and COB (corn, oats, and barley) when the weather is bad to help keep their energy levels up. When we feed COB, we only feed a few days and only while the weather is severe. We feed in troughs and the cows and bull get approximately 25 pounds (half a sack) of feed every 2–3 days.
Our cattle never see a feedlot. Steroids and artificial growth hormones are not used on our cattle. We keep a health record on each animal and if a steer needs antibiotics, they are pulled from our program and sold on another market.
Grass-fed beef has enormous health benefits. Lower in both in overall fat and saturated fat. It also provides more omega-3 fatty acids. Meat from pastured cattle is also up to four times higher in vitamin E and much higher in conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a nutrient associated with lower cancer risk, as well as higher in beta-carotene and lower in calories. Grass-fed beef is one of the healthiest protein sources available.
Our beef is dry-aged a minimum of 14 days. Dry-aging produces unparalleled flavor and tenderness. We sell the entire beef, half or quarter. Beef is processed locally in a small, family-owned facility, where it is prepared, then cut to your specification and vacuum packaged.

Sassafras Valley Farm raises free-range Embden geese and Rouen ducks on our family farm in Gasconade County, Missouri.
We practice Low Impact Sustainable Agriculture (LISA) to raise geese and ducks in a traditional and environmentally sensitive fashion. We maintain a population density of less than 36 birds per acre to provide them with continuous access to fresh pasture and water. Our pastures have been carefully planted with a mixture of grasses and other plants that reflect the traditional diet of domesticated geese and ducks in harmony with the requirements of the local microclimate. Our birds are raised in a chemical free, pesticide free, hormone free environment.
Unfortunately, in the U.S., availability of dressed geese and ducks is limited due to the relative difficulty of raising them in high density confinement. Our geese and ducks are raised on free-range and natural pasture in the same traditional way that domesticated waterfowl have been raised since their original descent from their wild forbears.
Predator control (typically coyotes, feral dogs, and hawks) is accomplished through the efforts of several Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs rather than by trapping, poisoning, or shooting.
Rouen ducks are a slower maturing heritage breed with plumage similar to Mallards. They are considerably smaller than the more common Pekin ducks sold through most market outlets, and are less greasy as well as superior in flavor.
Embden geese are the traditional, large white geese familiar from pictures and folklore. Our Embdens are very low in fat due to their natural diet and healthy, outdoor living conditions.

SteelMeadow Farm is located between Ava and Mansfield, about an hour east of Springfield. In the rolling Ozark hills, we live in a lovely green valley nestled between clover-rich fields where we raise grass-fed Irish Dexter beef cattle and Spanish meat goats. The Irish Dexter cattle are a dual purpose breed (triple purpose if you include using them as oxen) and are registered. Dexters may be purchased as breeding stock or as packaged beef from our retail freezer. Their smaller size makes them the perfect choice for today’s health-conscious consumer and their gentle, docile nature makes them wonderful additions to the farm as well.
Our meat goats are of three Spanish lines: Valera, Pape and Weinheimer. The goats grow quickly and thrive by clearing woods, controlling and removing weeds and generally work hard on our farm. We will sell some does and bucks for your own breeding stock, or you may purchase young delicious cabrito from our retail freezer on the farm.
We have 3–5 hives of bees which forage the Ozarks pastures and woods for nectar. There are no “row crops” or sprayed fields within the bees’ flight path. Our honey won the prestigious Best Non-Local Blend in the 2013 Black Jar Honey Contest, held annually in Asheville, NC. Honey yield varies from year to year.

Three Spring Farms is a new venture in 2011 by Andrew Bachmann, Jacob Bachmann and Bryan Meyers. The Bachmann brothers have loads of knowledge and experience: they are 4th generation farmers in the neighborhood with recent degrees in Agriculture from Missou. Meyers is a recent convert after an inspiring farm experience a few decades ago. Together they are raising grassfed beef and taking steps to protect and heal the farmland that they are working.
The Bachmanns have added to their previous knowledge by attending a grassfed grazing school in 2011, while Meyers perpetually bugs them with ideas gleaned from The Stockman Grassfarmer and other journals. We are simultaneously building our pastures and our grassfeeding skills. Initial work includes the building of a herd around some cows and calves that the Bachmanns have moved from their family farm up the road. The first year has seen the conversion of tilled fields to pasture and the development of plans to protect the ponds and streams by providing internal fencing and managed grazing. The grazing company is off to a strong start and has a small number of grassfed steers to offer at the end of the first year of operations.
We feed grass and hay only. We offer mineral supplements but absolutely no hormones and no antibiotics. The cattle are outside all the time and have had minimal health issues.
The beef will be sold direct to the consumer with options on how and where it will be processed. Will deliver to the St. Louis area and will discuss options outside that immediate region. Our farm is just across the river from Illinois, so it is a worthy consideration for those in Southern Illinois as well.

Wright Family Farms is a small, sustainable 100% grass fed family farm located in Warrensburg, Missouri just forty miles east of Kansas City. We produce all natural, grass fed and grass finished Black Angus beef, Katahdin sheep (lamb) and Kiko goats raised without hormones, chemicals or antibiotics using an intensive grazing system.
We rotate pastures daily in the spring summer and fall and feed stockpiled forages, grass, alfalfa and clover hay in the winter. We believe in the humane treatment of all animals God places in our care and provide them with the best care possible from birth to harvest. We are extremely committed in supplying not only the finest tasting but the healthiest Grass Fed Beef, Lamb and Goat you can find.
At this time we offer direct sales from our farm and use an inspected meat processor nearby and butcher to your specifications. Beef is sold by the whole or by the half and freezer lamb and goat is sold by the whole. Individual select cuts of our Grass Fed Beef and Lamb are also available at The Mixing Bowl located at 383 NW 501 Road, Centerview, Missouri.
