Aspen Ridge Farm is a small diversified family farm specializing in naturally grown, pasture raised meat including chicken, pork, lamb, rose veal and eggs. We provide unlimited pasture to all of our animals through daily rotational grazing. Our pastures are managed organically with no herbicide or pesticide applications, and fertilizers are in the form of manure and compost produced on farm. We use no growth hormones, steroids or antibiotics.
Our broilers and layers forage on our pastures while free ranging outside, always exposed to fresh pasture, natural sunlight and fresh air. 2014 Broilers will be available starting at the end of May through the November. Eggs are always available, though supply is limited in the winter months. In addition to their foraging, we supplement the diets of our poultry with an organically grown, soy and GMO-free grain ration that is both grown and milled locally.
Our pigs are provided with both forest and pasture to browse and root in. Frequent pasture rotation minimizes their impact on the environment and maximizes their quality of life and flavor of the meat. We offer a limited number of whole and half pigs available for sale each year. Individually packaged cuts of pork are generally available in the summer and fall months.
Our lambs graze and browse on fresh grass, and have access to high quality minerals and salt. Their diet is 100% pasture or dried forage (hay) and we do not supplement with grain. We rotate them frequently to fresh pasture ensuring lambs always have the best nutrition available. Individually packaged cuts of lamb are generally available in the fall months. In addition to cuts of lamb, we frequently have wool pelts and home spun yarns produced from our wool.
Veal calves are fed fresh, raw milk produced on our farm twice daily. In addition to milk, calves have access to as much fresh grass or hay (winter months) as they choose. Calves live on pasture and are rotated daily through our rotational grazing system. Rose veal is full of flavor, yet still retains its veal tenderness.
Our 2014 meat and egg CSA begins in May and ends in November. CSA members have the option to pick-up shares on farm or monthly in Madison, NJ. Base shares include eggs and whole chicken broilers, with the option of pork and veal add-ons. For full share details, please visit our website.

Beechtree Farm, Hopewell, NJ. Inspired after hearing Jo Robinson speak on why grassfed is best in 2003, we began to expand our cattle operation of 20 years and selling our grassfed beef directly to consumers from our 58 acre, preserved farm. We have two other farms nearby and partner with local farmers whose pasture we graze in-season. We also sell chicken, pork and eggs seasonally.
Our meat is sold frozen, by the cut, in our store here at Beechtree Farm. Please call ahead to let us know when you'd like to visit. While we live and work from the farm, we want to make sure to be here when you arrive. From Spring to Fall we also participate in several farmers markets (see our website for locations and times). We take names for those who are interested in ordering 1/8, 1/4 or 1/2 share of beef.
Our cattle live an unconfined, humane life on pasture and hay in the winter with access to shelter, minerals and salt. We practice rotational pasture grazing to maintain the growth of lush pastures. Working with the Natural Resource Conservation Service, NRCS, we follow Comprehensive Nutrient Management to protect local water and enrich our soils. The meat is processed at small USDA certified facilities. We have observed the entire process and are confident that our animals receive humane treatment up to the very end.
We often hear from our customers how flavorful our meat is. It was quite a thrill when one 80-year-old customer exclaimed that she had the best hamburger in her entire life from our ground beef. Another woman actually burst into tears when talking about the brisket she prepared at Passover. We also feel wonderful knowing our customers are eating such nutrient dense and healthy food.
We are actively involved in promoting local, regenerative agriculture. Charlie is on the Mercer County Board of Agriculture. Lucia is Vice President, Board of Directors, Northeast Organic Farming Association of New Jersey (NOFANJ.org) and heads up the Policy Committee. She chairs the Hopewell Township Agricultural Advisory Committee which actively preserves farmland in our town.

Burningheart Farm is
a small farm with a mission: to preserve the art of sustainable farming.
We use organic methods to produce happy and healthy pasture raised lamb, heritage
turkey, chicken and eggs without
the use of antibiotics, growth hormones, anthelmintics (de-wormers),
pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers. Our lambs and poultry

The small size of our farm allows us to produce limited quantity with
exceptional quality. An important part of our "small and local" philosophy

The soil is the foundation of our farm. Our permanent pastures are
managed for the long term protection of the soil, increasing mineralization,
and decreasing erosion. Permanent organic pasture contains a wide variety
of plants and greater biological diversity than soil which is subject
to tillage and toxic inputs. Much of our pasture contains legumes,
such as white clover, which fix nitrogen from the atmosphere into the
soil at the root level, providing free and natural fertilization with
no excess nitrogen run-off to contaminate surface water. The result
is a higher level of nutrition in the pasture, the animals, and you.
We keep a permanent flock of sheep and
breed our lambs here on our farm. Our livestock are treated humanely
and have plenty of space, eliminating stress and illness. We supplement
our livestock with kelp (OMRI listed), a sea grass which has the proper
balance of vitamins and minerals necessary for excellent nutrition.
Kelp contains over 60 minerals and helps to maintain soil fertility.
We participate in the USDA voluntary scrapie flock certification program.
These sustainable methods promote optimal public health, maintain strong

Churutabis Farm is a small sustainable family farm where we raise chickens (meat & eggs), turkeys, ducks (eggs), and rabbits for meat.
We put our broilers and layers out on pasture as soon as the weather permits it, broilers in 10x20 chicken tractors, and layers in a large electric fence surrounding them. Turkeys are raised on pasture too. Rabbits get green grass on a daily basis. Guinea-fowl are on pasture and free range.

Cowberry Crossing Farm is a Certified Organic (by Stellar) and Certified Biodynamic (by Demeter) small family farm located in Claverack, New York. The Harrisons are committed to local, humane, sustainable farming. They have a large and varied vegetable garden. Creek Farm is an all-natural, non-gmo farm in the Pocono Mountains
of Pennsylvania. We raise nubian and saanen dairy goats in the forest

Good Tree Farm of New Egypt is a community
initiated organic CSA farm producing a wide variety of vegetables,
field fruit, herbs and medicinal plants in a sustainable

Hough Family Farm is a small diversified family farm located in Southampton, NJ. Our farm specializes in natural pasture raised quality meats. Howling Wolf Farm raises and sells 100% Grass-fed
beef. We work with breeds (such as Rotakawa Devons) that turn the nutrition
of our diverse pastures of grasses, clovers and wild plants into delicious
beef. Our breeding herd is grazed rotationally over 80 acres, and mothers
care for their calves until they are naturally weaned. We use organic
practices (we are not certified).
We know and love all our cows, calves,
steer and bulls and we handle and work with them with care, particularly

The Jennings Farm is located in Medford NJ which is 20 minutes from Cherry Hill, NJ and 45 minutes from Philadelphia, PA. The farm has been in our family for four generations and was preserved from development by the SADC of New Jersey.
The Jennings Farm herd consists primarily of Herefords and a Hereford-Angus cross fondly called “Baldies,” because of their white faces. Our animals are free to roam year round and are never penned up, however shelter is available to them during inclement weather. Our animals live stress-free happy lives and enjoy the tranquility on our rural 100-acre farm. During warmer times of the year and weather dependent (rainfall, drought, temperature) we use rotational grazing to allow rest periods for the pastures to promote healthy re-growth of their grasses. The pastures in return give back healthy nutritious forage for our animals. To round out their diets, our herd has access to trace element salt and kelp. During the winter we add hay to their dormant season grazing but they are never fed corn or grain nor are they given antibiotics or hormones. This past fall several of our pastures were over seeded to increase forage diversity and density. Late winter/early spring clovers were frost seeded to raise the nutrient value of the pastures as well as their overall nitrogen fixation ability.
We do not have organic certification but do our best to abide by the standards embraced by organic farming. Future plans include applying for humane animal certification.

Kezialain Farm, in Orange County NY, has been in our family since 1775. We see ourselves as stewards of this land – which is why we raise cattle that are 100% grass-fed, certified organic (by NOFA-NY).
Our cattle are raised on their mothers’ milk, our organic pasture and hay, and organic minerals like kelp—nothing else. They thrive on the native grasses and plants that grow naturally in the fields, keeping the soil fertile and the farm sustainable. This diet and their low-stress lives make them naturally healthy and enhances the quality of their lives. It’s also better for the environment and produces the healthiest kind of beef available.
We use a small organic humane USDA slaughterhouse. The meat is dry aged for 10–14 days to enhance flavor and tenderness, then cut, vacuum packed and frozen. We sell meat directly from the farm as sides (which are cut to your specifications); mixed quarters and eighths (we try to include the cuts that you prefer); 20-pound variety packs of steaks, ground beef and other cuts; and 10 or 20 pound packs of ground beef. Lowland Farm raises grass-fed, grass-finished beef and pastured pork on verdant farmland in the Hudson Valley, 50 miles NW of New York City, in Warwick, NY and Vernon, NJ.
Our cows are mixed breeds, including Angus, Hereford, and Devon. They spend their entire lives out of doors, eating grass exclusively, without antibiotics or growth-promoting hormones. We began raising beef seven years ago and are beginning to see the results of our high density rotational grazing in improved soil, organic matter and fertility – and in excellent beef. The Mitzvah Meat and Mindful Meat food co-op
provides glatt kosher, halal and non-kosher beef and lamb that
has been grass-fed and finished, raised without chemicals, routine
antibiotics, or hormones, and slaughtered humanely. Our farms are naturally
or organically certified (NOFA), but all hold to the same high standards
of care of their animals stated above.
Our humane slaughter takes place in a small USDA-certified
slaughterhouse that allows for compassionate care of each animal preceding
and at the time of their slaughter, rather than assembly line killing.
We provide 15-20 lb prepaid packages of frozen meat
through deliveries in the New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts

Plaid Piper Farm has been in our family
for 7 generations. It is located in picturesque Sussex County. We currently
offer grass fed, grass finished beef, and pastured pork. All of our products are raised naturally

Our beef is wintered over on our hay. Spring through
fall they are rotationally grazed on our pastures. Our pigs are fed a
balanced grain ration and rotationally graze their pastures.
We invite you to visit our farm. We enjoy showing
you our content animals and discussing how we keep them safe and healthy
in a humane fashion. We use good husbandry practices to let them live
as nature intended with as little intervention as possible. If you would

Pure Indian Foods is a small family-owned
business that takes pride in making an exceptional quality grass-fed
and certified organic Ghee. Golden colored Ghee is prepared
by melting and simmering butter until all the water evaporates and
the milk solids settle at the bottom. The remaining butter oil is very
stable, giving it a high smoke point which makes it an excellent choice
for deep fat frying, baking and sautéing. Because of the
low moisture content, it can be stored without refrigeration for 2-3
months. Many people find our ghee, with its rich, nutty flavor, to
be tastier than butter.
We make our ghee fresh, with care, in small batches,
right here in the USA. Our products are USDA Certified Organic. We use
butter made only in Springtime through the Fall, when the cows are actually
out on the pasture eating fresh green grass. We make our ghee only on
the waxing or full moon days which are auspicious in the ancient Vedic
system. We use glass bottles instead of plastic bottles to avoid dangerous
toxic chemicals from leeching from plastic containers. Our family has
been in the ghee business in India for 5 generations, since 1889, and
we are proudly continuing that tradition.
Ghee has been used for its health-giving and healing
properties for thousands of years. In Ayurveda (the “science
of life”), cow ghee is considered one of the most sacred foods.
Ghee is the best cooking oil as it is stable at higher
temperatures, and it enhances the flavor of spices and herbs. Ghee is
free of casein and lactose and is suitable for people who are allergic
to dairy products. It keeps skin soft, and has anti-aging properties.

We are a farming family that loves to raise animals in their most natural environment, which is the way animals love to be raised!
Our laying hens produce the most nutritious, delicious and healthy eggs, since they have over 40 acres of pasture to freely roam every day, all day. We frequently move their mobile henhouse so they don’t have to wander too far to find all the plants and bugs they need to lay eggs that are nutritious, with dark yellow to orange yolks and an unsurpassed flavor. Our feed is an all natural vegetarian feed freshly ground every two weeks and in the snowy winter, when green grass is scarce, we feed our layers our best quality hay.
Recently, a customer dropped this note in the money box of our (honor system) egg stand: “I eat one egg with my breakfast every morning. Until I discovered your extra large eggs this summer, I didn’t know how very delicious eggs could be! And I have never seen orange yolks before. Thanks for the great taste, and I wish you well!”
Our meat chickens are raised in mobile pens during the summer months, which we move twice a day to ensure cleanliness and fresh grass. Since these chickens have a fresh salad of plants and grasses every day and an all-natural vegetarian diet of grains, their meat is of superior quality in flavor and nutrition. We have these chickens vacuum wrapped so we can store them through the winter months so our customers can come by anytime to pick up a chicken for dinner.

To ensure happy, healthy animals we employ management techniques such
as good nutrition, low stocking densities, frequent movement to fresh
pasture, interspecies grazing, and alternating fields between grazing,
haying, and vegetable production. We never use hormones, antibiotics,
pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers. The animals that do
require grain are fed organic grain. Through our management techniques
we encourage all of our animals to forage from our lush pastures of mixed
grasses and legumes. Scraps from our sustainably managed gardens may
also be fed. We feed dry hay from our own fields during the winter months.

Vernon Valley Farm raises grass-fed beef, pastured pork, and naturally grown vegetables. We strive to provide fresh, healthy, and flavorful food for our community.
Our operation is strictly chemical and drug free. From the health and well-being of our cows, all the way down to the worms in the soil, we seek to use nature's synergies to farm rather than industrial methods.
All of our cows are born on the farm and raised on our pastures. We have spent years fine tuning the mix of grass species so that there is a diversity of forage available, irrespective of the weather. From spring through early winter, we move the herd daily to a fresh area. This system is known as intensive rotational grazing and is designed to mimic the natural grazing patterns of herd animals in the wild. This allows the grass enough time to rest and regrow and helps build healthy soil. This also helps to break insect and parasite cycles.
In the winter, we feed grass hay to our cows and all year long we offer free access to OMRI approved sea salt, vitamins, and minerals, which in turn re-mineralize the soil.
During periods of inclement weather, we feed our cattle in an open air structure. We utilize a bedded manure pack system. This historic method puts a greater emphasis on animal comfort rather than production efficiency. The resulting compost is spread back on the fields after the winter.
Currently we have grass-fed beef in stock and are accepting orders. We sell by the whole, half, and quarter, as well as individual cuts. Next season we will have pork, with the potential for poultry.
